Default shift knobs

i was looking at some shift knobs that are heavy and it seems that twm and rkm (not yet on the market) are the only companies that have heavy knobs. twm is way to expensive 100$ hell no. rkm is about 50$ but they only have one design and its not that good looking.
i know the shift knob is nothing special but i got some tickets to pay up and cant be spending money on the real things i wanna buy for the car so i thought i would buy some small things for the car instead

As of right now, your best bet is the TWM Desert Eagle...its about 1.32lbs iirc....everybody who owns one says its a very nice piece and well worth the $100 spent

the RKM one is 2lbs...which is a small plus over the TWM, given our sloppy stock shifter...but it is almost 7 months over due....who knows when this thing will ever come out

If you cannot wait any longer, get the TWM

on another side note...if you are looking to improve your shifting...the medieval side motor mounts make shifting much crisper and positive....before i added them to my car...I would mis or grind 3rd gear alot...they say its natural design of the MS3 because the engine hops around so much during acceleration.....after I added the mounts, I have yet to mis or grind 3rd....amazing

Any transmission mount will be loud when installed because the bushing is not a cushioned rubber piece as the stocker is. You will have increased NVH with the mounts but they do improve shifting drastically. Both the TRZ and Medieval mounts are a great option, but I can work you a better deal on the TRZ

I have an RMM & TMM (stock PMM). The NVH is barely more noticeable than stock.

I have to agree with Wassup, any transmission mount will increase drive train noise.

Please check out the reveiws on the Medieval transmission mount, we currenly have a GB going on for them righ now.

dabears2k said something about each revision he gets is not meeting his expectations...and it doesn't help that each time he has to send it back, it takes about 20-25 days because it is through ship not air....i believe he is on his 5th revision right now

lets hope it gets released soon...i really want a 2lb shift knob for $50

I'm waiting for the TWM Big Type R with engraved shift patter. TWM said they're due later this month or early next month!

Yeah, I really like the look of it except the highlighted part below. I'm hoping the larger big type r will fill in that area.

I can't believe the amount of money some of these suppliers are asking just for a piece of weighted metal.

I use this Mazda shift knob.

Screws right on, matching shift patterns, and matching Red Stitchings. Its also a bit heavier than the MS3 shift knob too. Looking at the design I am guessing some of you know from which car this is from.

There you go, we have not found a reason for the heavy knob. After going light weight and removing over 1/2 the shifter weight at the trans the car shifts a bunch better.

I have used the stocker and out light weight unit (see link http://www.mazdaspeedforum.org/forum/foru...one-130-a.html) and to be honest, the light weight is preferred by everyone who has driven the car. To each there own but for performance, I am sticking with the LW option.

It's unfortunate, but shift knobs do cost quite a bit. You could always become creative like some of the 240/drift guys do, and make your own shift knobs
