| Not Ranked : 0 score Sure sounds like a head gasket,but it could be anything. Cracked block ,cracked head,warped head, not torqued correctly,defective gasket take your pick. Was the gasket just done? How did this come about? |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Well i hydro-locked the motor back in august. I had the entire engine torn down and rebuilt. the head was sent to Dover to be machined polished and assembled. no parts were reused. What are teh odds of getting a bad gasket?

| Not Ranked : 0 score I have done quite a few head gaskets/head replacements on cars other than the speed. If you even have a little oil or water on the mating surfaces when you re-install the new gasket, it will fail prematurely and not properly seal. Possbily when the motor was re-assembled this could have happened. IMO though it sounds like a head gasket.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Were studs or oem bolts used? Something prolly wasnt torqued or retorqued properly. Edit: rofl @ cracked mzr-disi blocks... Also get them to check the valves, if that head was surfaced it could have some major timing probs depending on how much material was taken off. There is zero reason to surface our head, and I have yet to hear about a warped disi head. The compression on 1 and 4 is on the low side.

| Not Ranked : 0 score id have the head checked for sure, no reason to loose a gasket unless it wasn't torqued properly, or overheated, other wise id be looking at the head very closely....

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Well it seems it was just the head gasket. Small hole between the compression cambers 2 and 3. it was bleeding exhaust into the coolant system. Cause is believed to be from not burping system completely. head was fine. hope this may help someone in the future. Coolant was boiling in reservoir. Never overheated idling, Would over heat when load was on the engine as soon as you started coasting the temp would start falling again. No fluid swap between the oil and coolant.
