| Not Ranked : 0 score I have the cpe dp+ms cbe and I'll say that it is considerable louder than just cbe. It doesn't sound annoying, just deep/drony while cruising. I wish the drone was a bit less just for normal daily driving. But it's perfect for events. You can hear the throttle much better. First vid is w/ MS CBE and the second is open cpe catted dp.

Thanks for the sound clips, probably a tad louder then I am going for..I like to get the most performance and keep it as quiet as I Can.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Forgot to mention that I run an external mic near the rear bumper so the audio is not cabin noise, but it's still fairly loud. The car made massive improvements in handling in only a few weeks. Some more power mods over winter and she should be ready to take on DSP next season. Car is so responsive, blast to throw around.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Well it has been several weeks now. I have the FMIC, MSCAI, cated down and Mazdaspeed car back, with the Cobb electronics and the turbo inlet pipe with 1 colder plugs. I put a K&N on the intake to get the paper one off. The car is louder than I would like and it has a audible hiss as well. I reminds me of an old girlfriend from the 60's. I had to put in the KDM fuel pump as I had issues of fuel cut. The car is fast....kinda loud with hiss. It is my daily driver for the summer months as the air works so well. My winter driver is my 3rd gen RX-7 or when the daytime temp stays in the low 80's. At 57 I would like a quieter car as it draws flies as it is now, however it has the performance I wanted and is my first FWD car and/or econobox car. I do not race the car or pump it around town. I get 21 MPG or so with 93 oct. Issues that remain.....traction in 1-3. Will be putting on 225/45/18 in the next few weeks. Parts are a long time coming. I have had Auto Exec braces on order for 5 weeks now with Ken. The car has about 7k on it now and has been fun thus far |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Yes there is. I would say an easy 20 HP. You will have to put in the fuel pump fix as well as it will need it. I have been very careful on my bolt ons and this was on top of the list. You will also have to up-grade the motor mounts as well. I left the drive side stock as no one to my knowledge makes a good replacement yet. It will take a day to put it on......small hands good. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I'll have to check my logs again. But my dashhawk doesn't dip with a full tbe. I don't think it's a must, only if your pressure is dropping. My car sees a lot of wear and tear, almost every weekend with multiple codrivers.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Doc, do you have any experience with the non cat'd versions? Either in this car or another turbo car? I have looked high and low for real empirical data for the cat'd vs non-cat'd DPs. Nobody seems to have anything on it. I'd take some anecdotal data from someone who has tried them both with the same mods.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I run a Mazda rx-7 94 R2 and have a non catted down pipe on it. I put a cat down stream however as I was getting boost spikes. It smoothed it out nicely, I like a very drivable car with predictable manners. I am a old man. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score A turbo has a volumetric capacity. That capacity is related to the speed it turns. The faster you get to that speed will determine the final boost pressure and its lag. Kinda, sort of. The ability of your engine to use all this air is a function of cams and your ecu (and other stuff). You can build a drag car that works very well at WOT @ a RPM and not very well any where else in the rpm range. It is easy to build a "narrow" band of power Power is relative to the ability of the car to use it. If it is a drag car that is one thing if it is a car that you will also make turns in that is another. I have often seen in SCCA racing the lower HP car win. I like a very smooth power gain to red line it is more "fun" to drive and my driving ability is not so good. Real good drivers have the ability to use a narrow band car. I would put the cat in or a restrictor of some sort. The cat will reduce engine exhaust noise that is a good thing to me . A weight to HP ratio of 10 to 1 is for me a sweet spot. Fun but will not kill you so fast. So a 300 HP on a MS3 is the place for me. Now I missed a lot of variables and such so fire away. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Well I drive the MS6, so I have a little more weight to throw around, but I do have the benefit of the AWD. It could be subjective, but I think the MS6 is easier to handle than the 3. Noise isn't such a huge issue for me. If someone told me that the non cat'd version was 25hp more, then there is no decision. Likewise if the cat'd version was only 5-8hp less, there would be no real reason to not get it with one.
