Default I got P2187

I been reading on this code P2187 for a while I will start checking my lines, turbo inlet, MAF sensor and so on, but if it come to the purge valve does anyone have a picture or the part number? does it have another name (purge valve)?

purge valve is a diff code

p0445 or something like that "evap system minor leak"
p0442 "evap system gross leak"

i may have them mismatched but you should throw another code if it is the purge valve

2187 is a lean idle code. Sounds like you have an intake tract leak

Consider that the 02 sensors are used to test if the vapors are being purged correctly into the combustion process. If the ECU anticipates a richness from the combusting purged vapors from the EVAP system, but it is not present, it makes sense a lean condition would be detected.

I had this for a while and tried everything from fooling with o2 sensors to cleaning MAF to messing with intake.

As with most things the last thing you try works... it ended up being a simple boost leak for me.

For me it was as easy as cleaning the MAF sensor. Not even the sensors themselves, but the "temperature bulb" that is visible on the sensor was covered in soot. Cleaned it off with a q-tip and that was my fix. But there are a number of things it could be, good luck.

It can also be a dirty MAF, a vac leak, unmetered air leak, or a little less likely, a fueling issue.

I have this code, but had many others
P2177,P2187,P2097,P2195
Replaced O2 sensor and it fixed all but 2187. Still around.

MAF is clean
intake pipes are tight
purge valve is good

I'm thinking I'm leaking boost? Not quite sure how to test that. Or... it seems I only get this when it rains out, I checked my Mazdaspeed CAI and it was damp (not very wet). Time for a prefilter to see what happens.

I have the same code and I can't narrow it down. Mine also feels like its "choking" on WOT. I guess I'll clean the sensors.

On a side note, here's a great write up on making your own compression tester for leaks. I did it and it at least tests the intake side.

Read this and checked for any leaks coming from any hoses, found that the hose that goes to the bov/bpv had a big leak. Apparently it's common for these hoses to go bad. So thanks man!

I know that you wont want to hear it but check again for boost/vacuum leaks. Id recommend getting it smoke tested.
and yes, I know this is a zombie thread

It would be best to:

1. Search this site for each of those codes.

2. If you don't get the issue resolved from the results of those searches (just Google "mazdaspeedforums" followed by the code) then post a new thread rather than resurrecting a dead thread that you probably have not read all the way through.

3. Carefully follow the leads in the threads. There should be threads here on each of those three codes. Read and learn.

IT sound like an evap problem, not the easiest ones...you need to check for leaks in general
