(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score What I was wondering was a few things that would possibly be a good compilation to have in one thread. 1. What MBC seems to reduce the spike (if there is one) and is preferred for the ms6? 2. What EBC seems to reduce the spike (if there is one) and is preferred for the ms6? 3. What is moderately safe level to hold boost? For example can this motor and fuel and timing setup handled spiking 20+ (if we can't get rid of the spike) and holding 17? Holding 18? Thanks guys. I am guessing I'll need to accompany these parts with goodies like the bcd, map clamps, etc.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Nice. What about the amount of boost? So if you set it to 17psi you hit and hold 17psi? Cost is also a factor as I don't really want to spend that much. I am leaning towards the AEM Boost Controller - AEM - Tru-Boost Gauge-Type Controller It is reasonably priced. I just don't want to deal with spiking or creep. If I want to run 17psi I want it to hit 17-17.5 and hold and never go over it. MBC's aren't bad but I have always preferred having overboost protection etc.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Well, It's not that simple. You have to set a 'set' value, 'gain' value, and 'start' value to get what you're looking for. Like PID input. It takes some getting used to, but I had it down in less than a week. You can set it up with low and hi boost settings and switch back and forth on the fly. And it logs your boost curve on a graph for you. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Definately. I had a Profec B Spec II on my turbo 3 at one point. I am just not in the mood to drop 600+ on a boost controller. What are safe boost levels for this car considering rods, timing, and fuel.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I have a Hallman Pro RX with no spikes whatsoever and a very fast spool but I am tapping it off of the manifold instead of the compressor. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I usually keep it aroun 17-18psi. Enough to feel, but not enough to pop the turbo. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I am gonna order the AEM Tru Boost. I get a really good price on it. II will run 17psi. I just want to hit about 280-290whp and 300-310wtq.

| Not Ranked : 0 score That's what I'm running. I get some spike but not too bad. I like having the 2 boost settings and being able to switch on the fly.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Can you elaborate on the setup and settings? Is it just hitting a button to increase and a button to decrease or do you have to set gain, pulse widths, anything? Also - where are you tapping for all your pressure sources and how did you route it? I am looking to ultimately remove the spiking which some people say they have done - but maybe it's the way its setup for you?

| Not Ranked : 0 score I kind of do everything half assed. I'm running it of the BPV line. I have the solenoid mounted behind the battery box and everything is run behind the heatsheilds to the rubber gromet in behind the glove box. You set everything up in the menus using 2 buttons which take some gettign use too. Once you have it all set up you just have to push and hold a button for 2 secs to change the PSI. You have two settings, plus you can just turn it off which will run what the wastegate does. There is a setting that is suppose to control boost spikes but I haven't had a lot of luck with it. I'll be honest, the unit is not perfect but for what you pay I'm pretty happy with it. i would have liked a regular needle gauge, it would have been easier to read.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I have a boost gauge. This will be hidden. Can you send me your settings so I can start with those and adjust from there? I am going to tap off the manifold so hopefully I won't get spikes.

| Not Ranked : 0 score The ball and spring "gate" is supposed to help it spool up faster, but can cause the spike before is settles to the setting you have it at. You remove the gate if you are having bad spiking. I pulled it out because this freaking stock turbo spools so quick anyway you can't possibly slow it down so I preferred having a more controlled setting. Good reading http://http://www.turbosmartonline.c...ownload&id=199 Model I have. http://http://www.streetunit.com/Tur...fg-gbcv-bt.htm |
