Default MS6 engine build in Houston?

My MS6 has been sitting in the garage for several years. Engine has been rebuilt once already. I f’ed up, ran it low on oil and engine compression is bad in one or more cylinders, I don’t recall. I have been sitting on it trying to decide what to do.

I decided I want to fix it. I went to Kozmic Motorsports in Houston. They said they used to do engine builds but no longer. They ship engines to New Jersey. I was just wondering if there is anyone in Houston I could use? Any chance it could be repaired without a full teardown?

Yes I am a moron and f’ed up. Just looking for solutions to get back in the game. Thanks.

if you ran out of oil, you probably ruined crank bearing, rods and crank so, no it cannot be repaired without taking it out.
If you got it bored to 88mm you would need a new block to refresh it

Thanks for your reply. Based on your response it sounds like I should just buy a short block CPE instead of rebuilding. I doubt they will even take my old block as a core.

Peace of mind option
I assume it seized or made a knocking sound before it die...? no hole in the bloc ?

i bet you can pay the core and check the requirements. Then inspect yours once it is out of the car. if you prepare money to pay the whole thing and the core is good, it makes free money for some extra....

If you just get a short bloc, you would need to confirm the head is fine and likely to get the surface machined...

Knocking sound yes. No hole. Kozmic here in Houston is a CPE rep. And I am planning on having them do the engine swap and head work. So presumably they can tell me if the block is usable for a core. Thanks for the help.

This is more about the $$$ Benjamin’s. You may be able fix but this will take some time in garage. https://edgeautosport.com/ is one of my favorites for parts and information. Now if you are a self -starter and need to DYI do your homework. Identify the goal and what I mean by that is be realistic about the WHP your looking for and build to that plan. If you are looking for 400+whp do not cheap out on low end. Meaning do the small things right (ie… Key the Crank, grind piston ring gap to boost plan, Stub Main’s, replace oil pump).
When it comes to the head many opinions exist on this forum and to be truthful I’m still working this out for myself. I can tell you this I was fully built low end, gt3076R, 3” downpipe back, full 3” intake, cobb FMIC, and freaktune and many $$$ in. And the turbo lag was unbearable!!!!! Don’t get me wrong car was fast at a kick down and would out run or hang with many V8’s, but from a stop well let’s just say help was needed. At first I thought suspension, tires and tuning was attempted. This helped but still car is lagging building boost!!!!
Now after a couple months of research I believe the stock head just will not support the other mod’s. This takes me to today. I now am done with the head and still have it sitting on the workbench. I discussed option with many people I consider experts. While many had done cam’s, porting, and valve upsize, not many had done all of the above and I received mixed messages. My decision while spendy$$$ I did all of the above mentioned plus upgraded spring loading. The only question I have for the greater team on the forum is what about the VVT. Will this be an issue? And what option exist?
