(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I was trying to clean the EGR pipe/valve. Here is what we did - do you guys have any recommendation on how to fix it? We started by removing the battery, full intake, and turbo inlet. This let us get to the EGR valve. We were removing it - and we took out a line that was connected to the EGR and it turned out to be leaking out some blue liquid (im assuming it was coolant). It got all around the engine bay. However we sucessfully took out the EGR valve and clean it up really good. Now onto the pipe. We remove the intercooler and saw that we could access it without removing the throttle body. We didn't mess with the throttle body or any of the coolant line and got the pipe out and cleaned it. Afterwards we install all of it back in the reverse order. Then I started it up. It was rough idol for a while - then I pulled out to take a spin and it stalled. I tried to start it up again but to no avail. I couldn't figure out what to do. We pulled all the same one out again and found that the EGR gasket wasn't line properly. It probably fell a bit and we didn't notice. We assume that this could be what was casuing it not to start. We disconnected everything and reconnected everything but still didn't work. Now I am worried since I have to get to work on Monday and I currently don't have a car. Do any of you guys have any ideas? Thanks, |

| Not Ranked : 0 score It is impossinle to take out the egr pipe with out removing the tb. It is under and attatched to the intake mani, the block to one side and the tb to the other. You took something else off. Coolant is yellow, pink, or clear not blue. Check your sensors are all connected correctly. And take a picture of wat you undid. Edit: if you stripped the threads of the locking nut on the pipe it could be causing a massive leak.

| Not Ranked : 0 score start from the beginning. does the car crank at all? if it cranks, does it fire and then stumble and die? or is it just cranking with no fire? i am also confused as to how you got the EGR pipe out without taking off the TB.. also, my coolant (and most others) is green. i'm sure the hose you pulled off was a coolant line, hopefully it was coolant in there.. i cleaned my IM and EGR recently. my car wouldn't start afterwards, but all i needed to do was wiggle a wire on my starter and clean up some of the solvents i spilled all over it. i'm not saying that's what happened to you, but it may be just as easy.. if your car starts up and stumbles and dies, then you have a big vacuum leak and may have stripped the threads on the IM where the EGR pipe screws in. that's why you take the extra 10 minutes and remove the TB. you don't even need to remove the coolant lines from it, just push it out of the way. i'd go back in there, remove the TB, and check the pipe. i doubt a misaligned gasket would cause enough of a leak to lead to the car dying..

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Went back this morning and cranked it. It turned on and a lot of white smoke, im guessing from the coolant that was spill. we are guessing that the smoking was just the burning of the coolant. After that everything was okay. Now I am going to replace the spark plugs just in case. Good timing since I have 60k on the car already. I hope there was no damage. Also - I removed the intake and intercooler and was able to get the pipe out quite easily. We cleaned it already as well. |
