Default Traction control & brake light coming on

My traction control & brake light have been coming on and I'm not sure why. i do still have my summer tires on and it has been cold here but theres no snow on the ground at all and the lights come on as soon as I start driving. I have driven this car in the snow in previous years before switching my summer tires and never had this problem. Anyone have any ideas on whats going on ? Thanks.

Brake light might be due to low brake fluid? Traction control light... I'm not sure about.

Sounds like a wheel speed sensor.

I actually had that happen to me yesterday, I was installing my new SURE SRI and TIP, I forgot to plug in my mass air flow sensor after I installed it. The traction control light and brake light came on, as well as the check engine light. fixed itself after I plugged the MAF back in.

never been in any accidents and I havent worked on my car in a long time. I'm also noticing a bad smell like something burning in the engine bay but I cant figure that out either, dont know if theyre related issues or not.

Did you check what thehead mentioned? Making sure your MAF is plugged in?

On MINIs, a bad wheel speed sensor will cause the ABS/DSC/TPM/brake, etc light.

Undoubtedly zoom zoom boom within the next 5 working days. Unless, of course, you donate. Then the moderator will turn off your warning lights.

I had similar issue awhile back and topping off brake fluid fixed it. Fluid was just at the low mark.

DCS and brake light would come on without any rhyme or reason. Sometimes it was one, sometimes the other, sometimes both. Sometimes would pop on during hard cornering, sometimes just cruising straight. Sometimes turned off by itself, other times turned off after cycling ignition but not always.

Which reminds me to check my brake fluid again. Kinda wondering why I lost so much fluid in first place.

when it snowed last week, i was going down my street, i ripped the e-brake and slid my back end out a little, just to play -- and after that, the same lights came on and stayed on for a while -- i got to a stop light, turned off the car, and turned it back on -- the lights went off

so uh...
whens the last time you turned off your car?
.... jk
