Well I am glad I stumbled across this thread. I got a GTX2867R kit from Edge and have been having oil issues since I got it. At first one of the oil drain line gaskets was improperly aligned causing a slight blockage and external leak there, but even after fixing that there has been oil in the compressor housing and FMIC piping. I have cleaned it out several times and checked for shaft play and there is none, but I am still getting oil leakage. I am hoping a different restrictor bolt might help things. I also read in another thread that a shorter oil drain line than the one supplied might be needed.

Are you sure the oil is coming from the turbo and not via the intake/PCV?

Now I have to go through the gtx2867r kit I bought and see what restrictor bolt it has if any. Wish there was a definitive answer on whether to run one or not.

I believe the fact of the matter is that ATP does NOT use a restrictor in our kits as evidenced in the posts above. Start at #350 .

not a wrench per se, actually supports the fact that ATP does not restrict their kits...because according to your information Garrett does it at the factory. Still most, if not all, subbie guys add one in-line on the feed.

I still do not run one (on my GTX) and never did on my GT28 which has probably 20k miles on it.

I already have 40k mile son my GTX3071 and I don't think it has any visible issue. I installed it almost 3 years ago and never touched the lines since.

Random thought I had when replacing my oil feed (kind of regretting I even did it). There is a banjo on the block side AND the turbo side on the OEM feed line. Could that supply the proper pressure that would make ATP not include any restrictor with their bolt-on kits?

I have pics in a thread somewhere, maybe this one, that has both the banjo bolts for the OE line and IIRC they are both wide open. Since you were just there you can confirm. The block bolt is longer/larger with a hollow middle and the turbo end is smaller but still hollow. The 2 holes on the sides are of course smaller but I'm not sure they qualify as a restriction of sorts. At least when you buy "Garrett restrictor banjos" they are restricted in the core of the bolt. (Also pictured somewhere on here)

I am still running wide open with my GTX with no smoking issues so I am staying that way.

The 2 holes on the sides are of course smaller but I'm not sure they qualify as a restriction of sorts. At least when you buy "Garrett restrictor banjos" they are restricted in the core of the bolt. I am still running wide open with my GTX with no smoking issues so I am staying that way.
I'm seeing some more smoke than before at cold start up, but it goes away after the oil warms up. My oil pressure gauge reads close to 100psi during cold starts. Not saying its super accurate, but its probably up there.

Forced Performance sent me a .030" restrictor with my turbo. Now I'm somewhat worried after reading this.
