lol austin thats my friends old mazda3 2.3 hatch... that turbo sucked donkey dick on his car.. we made 200whp on that slut, but then that was 6psi on a fully built motor, with stock tranny. and let me tell u.. that fucker took FOREVER to spool up!!

This should make for a very interesting setup on fagwagons car. Him and I have been going back and forth (hes my roommate) about what to do about the downpipe and exhaust manifold and we havn't really figured it out yet. I'm hoping that by this summer we can have this in and have the fuel system installed that we've dreamed up and have a full write up (plus pictures) on how to make big power with these cars without spending $6k.

yea im also going with a holset but im using the first version of the hx35 which is the h1c. but i will be using the hx35 turbine housing from BEP so it should yeild the same power

so i went back and looked at the thread. what housing was he useing its looks alot bigger than the one of the hx35. and also do you know if it was the single port or the double port housing....... but hey its like 350-400 on the turbo setup so if it sucks ass i can sell it and im not out 1600-1700 $$ like fagwagen sid budget build... i spent all my $$$ on my build so now im on a budget turbo. dont get me wrong if i could find a gt30 for a great price i would be on it but come on 1500 is a lil high for me. and hey if this works out then im sure lots of other people would jump on it...

lol it came off a dodge cummings turbo lol. the og owner of that turbo said he put 400 down on it but we couldnt break 200 lol

ive been doing alot of reading on these turbos and on other 4cl they spool right around 3-31/2 and make great power. so i guess fagwagon and me need to pioner the new era for mazdaspeed... hahha j/k

Its called twin scroll, or divided runner. But yes, it is a twin scroll housing.

The turbine housing on that Mazda3 looks like a 16-18cm which is huge and will make for a very lazy turbo. For him to better use that turbo he should consider switching out to a much smaller turbine housing. I can't imagine how horrible the spool is with that large housing, that shitty log manifold, and the turbine housing being twin scroll and the manifold isn't. Thats a horribly setup car.

The turbo he's using isn't very big either. Its a small H1C with a 50mm inducer and is probably good for around 400 hp at most, maybe slightly more if you really cranked on it.

yea the h1c im using is the bigger 8 blade and the housing is gonna be from ths hx35 and is 12cm not 16-18. and no log mani either hahaha.

you should just go with the hx35 man theres a lot out there for cheap on the cummins forums...i had i think 5 different ones to choose from.. and i was only looking for about a week.

theses not much diff from the h1c and the hx35 its just that the h1c is older. i will be useing the same housing as the hx35. and its a good price.. and the housing is not a twin scroll. its just 1

5-6 at high rpm... i know i drove it.. and no he didnt have anything wrong with the wastegate or what not. what he did run into was tuning... haltech didnt work cpe stand back didnt work(mazda 3 kind) and i forgot what other one he tried. but none of them worked right for his car... was weird

its an h1c. im going to use a 12cm^2 hx35 bullseye power hot side. have to prolly fab up a new turbo inlet. and a dp for sure. who knows what else.but hey someones gotta try new things. i think me fagwagon and turd burgler will do just fine. jump on the bandwagon while its still creeping along

as far as the coolant lines im sure they can be blocked off easily enough...you could put a cork in them lol. Looking good, i will be getting the same inlet for V-day lol my GF knows that car shit is basically all i want. Im thinking about also buying the big maf/shortram intake from cp-e as well ..

That inlet is not going to work. The compressor housing is way too big. If you change the manifold to where the compressor housing does not hit the transfer case you will probably screw up the orientation of the inlet. Even if it did work you would need to relocate the ecu from its current location b/c it will smush against inlet.

its all clamped together so the hotside will rotate and the inlet is a circle so it can rotate too lol not bein a dick just an observation. plus the cpe inlet is smashed anyways in stock form so it cant be much worse i bet!!!

All Holset turbine housings are twin scroll other than the HY35 I believe. Most have the internal gate setup on them and only a few are made with no provisions for a wastegate. Basically if you plan on using a Holset turbine housing you will have to run a wastegate off the manifold unless you want to try your luck with an internal setup, but people usually don't have the best luck with that. On mine I just welded the internal get shut and ran the gate off the manifold.

Always go for the HX40 and if you're looking for more than 650 then go for the HX50/52/55. Lol.

The HX35 is a medium frame turbo in my eyes. The compressor cover is quite large but the inducer/exducer sizes are still similar to that of a GT30R. The 8 blade HX35 flows nearly the same as the 30r so you can expect similar results out of both of the turbos. The 7 blade flows closer to a 60-1/GT35.
