FML....... so the car has been in trhe shop since tuesday at 0900. so surley it shouold be at least coming close to done...... WRONG i called today to check up on the progress and he was like ummmm yea bobby(the owner/welder/fab guy) was suposed to call you and let you know he got done "mapping" it out and was gonna start on it monday. .... first off to map a new huge turbo im pretty sure you need to pull the old one out and also the mani and dp. to do any type of mapping. but no not this shop i guess. he was like do you need it this weekend cause hes going out of town and wont start till monday so if you need it you can come pick it up and bring it back monday..... so really its just a big FUCK me we havent done shit with it all week. cause all the mani turbo dp are still on it. bull fucking shit you mapped anything out. prolly havent even popped the fuckin hood..... im fucken pissed and told him to just hold the car and start on it monday..........FUCK BITCH CUNT ASS FUCK..... im going shopping for a new car tonight so im not gonna worry about it right now

im looking to trade my 01 jetta in for something more family for the wife. something in the line of smaller suv like rav4 or ford esape, murcurey mariner, something like that. search didnt go well tonight but im back on the trail of a good deal tomm i guess.

yea i hope the car works out. i mean i know it will i just dont know when it will hahah. the shop does great work but takes longer than they say. like my engine build ..was told 2 weeks took 5 so i mean its what ever i still got wheels so im good.

still looks like a bit of fail with a side of fuck my life. i went by the shop today to see if thecar had moved. and it had but only to another parking spot. not anywhere near the shop or tools. so i duno wtf is up with it. imma wait till tomm after noon to see whats up. if they havent started by then then im off to another shop.

well i called the shop to see wtf.... told me the guy working on it was out at the moment and he would check with him when he gets backl and is gonna call me back. or so he says. i mean fuck theyt have had the car 7 days and havent started...... should i go get it and find a diff shop???? cause there are more shops here

are they fabricating stuff or just installing? if installing shit i'm sure you could find other speeds around you and help install that yourself and use that cash for the dyno tune.

no if were install i would deff do it myself. i installed everything i got. but they are fabing dp and rewelding my manifold and making oil line. not something i know how to do.

it sounds like they don't want to work on it, since they haven't started it. Since that's prolly the case, they'll just take their sweetass time working on it. Same thing happened to a buddy of mine except that shop didn't want to do it the way my buddy wanted them to, so they REALLY took their sweetass time.

Move to a different shop bro.

so i kept it at the shop and they started on it. welll long story short. turbo is to big and hits damn near everything back there. manifold flange has to be tilted !!!AND!!! rotated or its a hell no go. then after and if you get to that point there are some water lines all in the way and have to be moved. then if you move those you gotta get the turbo intake thru there so batt box gotta go or someother quick fix. then if you get that oil lines gotta be made . then your in the home strech just gotta make a dp and be on your merry way........ o yea then after all that i wounder if it even spools like i need want hope prey it does. so in saying all that.....................................i am going to continue to forge ahead and see how holset powa feels. my advice to anyone following in the wake is look for a top mount or be ready to work to get it to fit. also wait about a week and see how it turns out. imma get the guy a camera so he can take pics and ill post a complete a thread to it. so after saying all that i feel a bit better. i am kinda flustered on this whole project but am commeted to seeing a new path for mazda owners.

i know there shitty pics(my phone) but here it is as it sits now. it cant go straight in the compressor housing hits the block and tranny. the water lines are in the way of inlet.


here is a pic of it hitting. look at the intake side.... those are the said water lines....


also look at the inlet side on this pic.... ummmm yea lots of stuff in the way for the inlet to tun there...

Austin everything you mentioned is manageable. Have them shave off part of the transmission housing that the turbo is hitting and also have them shave off some of the compressor housing on the turbo. If the holset is oiled cooled only one of the water lines should should be deleted (i deleted the water line coming from the egr housing( i think its called the egr housing), and the other coolant line that ran to the stock turbo closed.

its all very manageable, im not sure why you will need to rotate the turbo? i can see why you will need to tilt it...i guess i will be finding out for myself soon enough.

For the battery you could probaly just move it to the trunk. All my friends that turbo their little honda's move the battery to make more room in the engine bay.

so went by the shop again today(picked up used reworked ko4)((4 sale by the way)) and car is coming along. they got the mani mapped and tacked and there working on the turbo mounting tomm. they tell me there shooting for friday...... i hope so. ill let yall know

If at all possible, try to leave some room for a shifting motor, otherwise you may run into issues like socks. And if you pushing the clearance that tight, you'll def need some stiff mm's.

Even with after market mounts the motor will move backwards towards the firewall quite a bit.

Austin, have you thought about clocking the turbo downwards and running the hot pipe under the motor to the fmic core? I don't know if this will work for your setup but it may free up a bit of room.
