From my exp, still owning a dsm, the 20g wether its a tdo5 or 6 arent happy above 20ish psi without a ewg. The flow is just too much for the little internal gate to deal with. Ewg will be a better design for sure.

Do you still need the k04? I have a disi block i can do mock up on for you. And take pics and stuff for you, plus i have a stock mani, stock downpipe, alternator and such i can take exact measurements for you....

After owning a big16g dsm for 6 years before getting my speed i have to say that cxracing 20g is garbage it is a 16g housing with the 20g wheel in it they are known to have very thin sidewalls and creep very bad. It is technically called a bastard 20g if you google search it. If you want to do this right your best bet would be to try and locate a td06 20g as it has a bigger wheel and much better housing setup. would spool a little slower than the big 16g and even a tdo5 20g, also have you guys looked into the holset turbos?

Those cxracing turbos are junk. People have been massacring them on 3000gt/vr4s for years. Also, they are basically non-rebuildable I believe as they dont share dimensions with the OEM MHI stuff.

I meant to ask this sooner but it completely slipped my mind.

Do you intend to make these adapters fit both 7cm and 8cm housings? Or just one? I'd like to know before I get too excited lol. An 8cm TD06H 20G would make beast power on an ms3 while keeping spool out early

Spool can be controlled in the tune so I don't think that should really be an issue. But yes, they do have the capability of spooling really quick.

WUT. A bigger turbo is going to take longer to spool. Sure, you can improve spool with a tune, but the turbo itself is the largest factor that affects spool.

"longer" yes, but the K04 spools at like 2500 rpms, hell on my 3071, just slapping it on there with no attempts to make it spool faster i can have that thing doing 20 psi at 3500 rpm. I believe the point thats trying to be made is that our engine is more than capable of spooling a "big" turbo fast enough to do some damage if you're not careful.

that is not even close to a hot side for a dsm flange if anything that looks like the O2 housing side.

the jdm sti or something came with twinscroll vf something turbos. you can find some on ebay. i believe the obx manifold is flanged for these twinscroll subaru turbos.

I know the flanges are different, what I'm saying is if they want 16g, 20g, etc. OBX makes a manifold that fits twinscroll Subaru flanged turbos. The common denominator was the fact that the turbo are probably made by the same companies. That is all. Not really adding or taking away from this thread.

Yeah you're right. I just thought it strange that OBX has this made to fit a DISI head flange and TS subie turbo.
It's too bad that OBX sucks, or it might actually be worth trying. I'm sure that manifold wouldn't last long, but it is a solid idea. More options is never a bad thing.

OBX beyond sucks. Put a set of headers on my friends V-6 tiburon and the alignment was off at least an inch. We had to stretch that poor little flex section for all was worth to get them to fit. Its like they didnt even try.

I run a Kinugawa TD05 20g on my 2.5l WRX. Full spool of 22psi at 3300rpm. Pulls hard the entire powerband. I believe its a 44lb/min turbo. $750.00 brand new. Had it for 15k miles and not a hint of an issue. That includes multiple drag runs and a road course session. They sell mitsu turbos as well.

Thought I would post this here as well. Its a comparison of my 20g WRX and a gtx3071 MS3 at high altitude. Granted its not a 20g on a MS3 but it gives you an idea. Would be cool to see how a BNR2 or 3 stacks up.

Wouldn't really matter. It doesn't hold more than 18 psi up top due to altitude. Besides I don't really want to run more than 22-23 psi on the stock block. The stock internals seems to do ok at around 350whp. Seen as high as 430whp on the 08+ stock block but I think it lasted 10k. Another guy with 390 whp lasted 25k or so. Others have upper 300's with no issues. Based off of my virtual dyno I am on the safe side of 350 whp.

Also my dyno would be closer to that of a MS6 on a 20g due to drivetrain loss. I bet if there was enough interest you MS3/MS6 guys could get one of the 20g/25g companies to make one flanged for bolt on duty.

Lots of things can kill a motor. Generally at the 350 whp mark on the 2.5 WRX and STI you are likely running ethanol and the TQ will be upper 300's low 400's. Its just a general limit to daily driver reliability and not an empirically backed data point. If you prefer we can say that the suggested TQ limit on the 2.5 in the WRX is upper 300's.
