So what is still needed to produce adapters? If they're just going to be a flat spacer style adapter I can probably have some water jetted out of stainless....

You guys get me specs or a file to have cut and if its something I can have cut out of stainless on a waterjet I can probably have it within 2 weeks depending on complexity.

I have been working 2 jobs like crazy to save and buy a house. Will be closing on the 15th and moving by the end of march. I will not have much time to work on drawing up flanges. The problem with the mitsu to MS turbo inlet flange is that they are both threaded for studs. The flange would need to be 3/4 inch thick and countersunk, finding / having custom bolts made in the right thread, shoulder and length have been tough. You would bolt a studded flange to the mitsu turbo.

I have all the flange dimensions drawn up. I plan to make a flange and build a jig for a custom downpipe. I want to use the dsm housing with an external wastegate.

This does need to be said though. I purchased a stock turbo manifold from a mazdaspeed for mock up. The manifold internally sucks for flow. I think the best solution would be for a custom mani with a custom flange. But that will still require a downpipe to be made too and therefore will kind of make doing all this pointless.

I do however have drawn up A pair of conversion flanges for a t2 turbine housing that would allow it to bolt in with the stock manifold/downpipe.

You can order a t2 turbine housing made for a td06 mitsu chra. This would make it a true bolt on with only needing a different thread pitch banjo bolt for the oil feed.

I have in the works is a k04 - mitsu hybrid.

I have a subaru td06 20g turbo and a stock k04 exhaust housing.

I always thought they could work together and now I know the td05/6 bearing housing can fit the k04 but with a td05 wheel. I am trying to see if a td06sl2 or hopefully a full td06 can fit.

So I am going into the slow season at work. I will have lots of time to devote to this project. I have pretty much deemed the factory k04 turbine housing a worthless piece of junk. I can definetly make a td05 / k04 hybrid. The machine work isn't that involved but the down side is it looks like it can only be done with an oil cooled only chra. The chra needs to be turned down pretty far to fit the k04. It has enough material to do this but it looks like a water passage will be cut into. It may be weldable but this isn't something you want to risk.

I also feel like the turbine itself is too restrictive. So the only answer is to make a new turbine housing.

I am in the process of designing a high flow 8cm^2 td06sl2 bolt on turbine housing for the mazdaspeed.

So if im understanding you correctly, its basically a reverse BNR? Same compressor just different turbine?

No, I am designing a custom turbine housing that will make use of a mitsubishi td06sl2 20g wheels and center section. Should be rated to about 47 lb/min and have decent spool.

Think more like ATP a full replacement turbo that is a bolt on, but this will use all the oem oil / coolant lines.

I have sent off a td06 sl2 turbine housing to be cut into 2 pieces with a wire edm machine and then to be digitized.

When I get the digitized file back I can then use the design of the td06 turbine housing and scroll. I will then add in the mazdaspeed flanges and wastegate swing valve with a 34/36 mm flapper.

This file will then be used to make a pvc prototype using a 3d printer. If it all fits properly and looks good I then need to find a manufacturer who can cast turbine housings.

2 weeks and i should have a prototype turbine housing. I need to come up with a good name for this turbo. Something awesome to have cast into the compressor housing cover.

Still waiting for the turbine housing... 1-2 more weeks

But the rest of the turbo is almost ready. Just need to weld the extension on the compressor outlet and install the wga when the turbine housing is here.

Realistically what kind of numbers at what boost do you think this would put out? IF you need/want any testers I can. I have a built motor, ported intake mani, ported head, 3.5" intake, 3port, catless exhaust, e85, rtubular exhaust mani.

Should be good for anywhere from 44 - 47 lb/hr so I would say that this is going to be good for 425+whp with proper fueling. Probably 450+ with e85 and added fuel.

Should be pretty efficient at about 20-22 psi.

I think the best thing about mitsubishi turbos is that they are inexpensive, reliable, don't have issues with smoking, and make great power.

So is this a 20g with a mazda flange? Sry, glanced through the thread and saw the turbo.


And what is this costing you? I can do a setup just like this......I was thinking of doing a big 16g or 20g swap on the ms3.....Guy that i take my car and big on dsm/evos has these turbos sitting around ((also rebuilds those turbos))

i think you are missing what he's doing. he's not just machining a 20g into a k04 housing he's getting a new housing cast that will flow better then the stock housing but it will still have the stock flanges on it.

My thoughts for doing this are that mitsubishi turbos rock. Ko4 turbine housing sucks and can only go as big as a td05 wheel with an oil cooled only mitsubishi chra. So this required a custom housing. Lets add a 34mm wastegate port while we are at it.

This design will hopefully open up a ton of options for the platform. There will be at least 4 turbos built. What happens with them is to be determined. Please stay tuned for more info when the prototype is finished.

If this works out well and there is demand, I may have a run of these made for sale, but I will have to get an ok from the proper channels on here to sell them. I have some contacts I am going through and may be able to get these out for a really great price.
