up here at the shop and they said the magnaflow cat i posted is small enough to be welded in before the wideband and it would pass emissions nor would the structure of the pipe be compromised

This is a high flow right?

Quick question, is there any reason why Cobb and CP-E went with a casted belmouth? Is there a possability of cracks forming on ones that are cast?

yes.

cast is more durable. cast can can crack too but I'm not worried. with the price and quality of this one but only time will tell. if something happens, ill have the shop fix it. don't think anything will though

Yea, I was wondering about that since so many people have been having issues with the tubular manifolds.

Well the manifold holds the weight of the turbo, the dp isn't really weight bearing.

if i didnt have the issues with getting my stock midpipe off the dp(fixed nut on back of the dp broke so it would spin freely. therefore its hard to get a close end wrench back there to hold it. on top of that, it was cross threaded,) it would have taken about 2.5hrs. but it turned into about 8.

just make sure you can get the whole car off the ground and high enough b/c you have to have enough room so you can angle and twist the dp in. if not, cut the hangers off and youll be able to get it in without a prob. but you still need to have the whole car off the ground....just wont need to be as high without hangers vs with
AKmac11 and yurples like this.

So, if you can, give me a run down of the MS3 exhaust.

Starting at the turbo..

Where are there cats, O2 sensors, resonators, muffler...in order form turbo to tailpipe.

Thanks. I have a guy that will pass my emissions test for me, so I have been thinking about this catless dp for awhile now.

Regardless, i am thinking i would just trick the 02 sensors into thinking things are all good anyways. I've never seen anyone look under the car for inspection her in TX.

Cat coming out of the ass-end of the turbo, with 02s before and after it (I think), then dp snakes down into another cat (where testpipe would go) and then I don't know the rest, I have a 6. Resonators shouldn't come into play with a downpipe though.

Catless shouldn't be an issue with emissions, as long as you don't have to worry about them looking under the car. I passed in CT without my 2nd cat and smoking like a bastard.

In the Spring I think I'll have to jump on this, the price is too perfect for a legit part like this.

Ok, here is how the Stock MS3 exhaust is set up starting with the ass of the turbo (Yes I stole this line):

1) Primary O2 sensor
2) Primary Cat
3) Secondary O2 sensor
4) Secondary Cat
5) Primary Resonator
6) Secondary Resonator
7) Muffler (After the rear Axle and most after market exhausts don't even bother with this)
8) Shiny Exhaust Tip

I hope this is what you were looking for.

Just what I was looking for. Thanks.

I need to climb up under this little go-kart and actually take a look. This is the first car I've had where I haven't installed all of my own modifications. Alas, also the first car I've had where I've had the money so I didn't have to. Being free on a weekend has become worth more to me than saving the money on installs. However, I think I'll just tackle this one for shits and giggles.

i doubt you will have the same prob i did. alot of people talk about stripping the sensors or having probs with the nuts on the turbo, all of mine came off with ease...using a regular socket wrench and sensor socket. didnt even need pb blaster

I've also heard that you should attempt this when the car is warm. Apparently, it will help you unbolt her.

How about a driving around vid, maybe some revs??

there is an extender on the second O2 sensor that pulls the sensor partially out of the exhaust stream so it heats up slower, like if it had a cat.

I've the corksport downpipe with a cat AFTER the second O2 for probably 15,000 miles, and I've NEVER had a CEL related to any O2 sensor.

ill get some better vids. NO CELS

i dont know about that. metal expands when warm. just take the heat shields and chassis braces off. a couple of the nuts on the turbo a turn and if you can get one off with enough force, then pb blast them and the sensors so they can soak for alittle while then come back. but mine came off with ease

also, im going to contact CNT today to see if they can weld their STI dual tip onto their MS3 CBE(the left tip to be exact, so it follows the curvature of the diffuser)...hopefully they can and ill be ordering that next.

might have to wait a bit if they actually do it, since I bet all of their production is done in china.

Man, you're way behind. It's the back pressure difference that makes the oil get sucked through the seals.

There are a couple of options:
1. Catch Can
2. Thicker Motor oil
3. Oil restricter bolt
4. Rebuilt Turbo

Did I miss any?

how does it look?

nope, not monitoring no pump. but im not feeling FP break up at all. will see how it goes. when i ran p stage 2 with intake, tp, my pressure was dropping and you could def feel it. so i know what it feels like if my pump starts dropping pressure.

i was also at the track last night, about 50 degrees and no issues. of course i couldnt see if i was spiking since my senor on my prosport guage has gone bad so im getting that replaced. but the car felt fine. i just ran shitty times. low 14's @103-104 and my streets are shot to shit

make sure to take close-up pics before installing

no smoke, restrictor, or catch can for me and still on first turbo.

im using 10w30 Penzoil Platinum.

my car smoked with stock dp and test pipe here and there when i was using Mobile 1 and Amsoil 5w40. i was feed up with smoke once in a blue moon from both oils so i decided to up the weight and change brands again. to 10w30 PP at 10k. and i havent smoked since then. i now have 34k miles on it.

car hasnt smoked once since DP installed.

Yea I've heard a lot of good things about people switching to 10W-30. Are there any drawbacks with this weight other than cold starts?

i havent had any issues. its not much heavier than 5w30 but it is heavier and thicker. depends on how cold it gets where you are

before i changed weight, i did research on a few forums and one of the posts that stuck out, to me
"As someone stated before, 5w-30 has more additives to meet that range than a 10w-30 and this causes some of the 5w-30's out there to shear and lose their viscosity over time. Mobil1 is notorious for shearing with its 5w-30 SS, it still shows good wear numbers but it starts about a 29 weight and ends a 26-27 weight. Oils like Amsoil and German Castrol(0W-30) start out at a heavy 33W and shear to like 30W which IMHO is better. Dont get me wrong, Mobil and the GC both show great wear numbers so Im not raggin on Mobil, I just like the fact that the GC is a 0W on start but thickens to a nice 30W. I just finished an oil analysis on Amsoil 5w-30 which was great and Im running GC now to compare. There are alot of 3.4L guys that run Mobil 10w-30 because they claim its hard on engine oil and tends to make oils like Mobil1 shear so the 10w-30 holds its viscosity better."
