I've been actually using Mobil 1 0W-30 for a few years. Since passing 100K, I'm gonna switch back to 5W-30 on my next change.

I'm pretty sure I'd smoke with these and a DP installed.

are you smoking here and there with mobile 1? b.c my motor hated it. ive always been a mobile 1 guy but not with this car or any more of my cars. smoking with stock dp pissed me off. ive def become a big fan of Penzoil.

switch to PP 5w30. i bet you wont smoke with dp

Nope, I've never smoked with Mobil 1. Where do you get the Penzoil? Iv'e never really seen it (probably because I'm not looking). Same places as Mobil 1?

i get mine from walmart. its like $20 for 5qts and another $6 for the 6th.

well, go dp and see ifyou smoke on the mobile. if not, then you are cool. if so, give the PP a try

Cool then. Thats the only place I can find 0W-30 Mobil 1 anyway. I pay like $23.50 for 5 quarts of it there. I will keep this in mind whenever I do the DP.

I just got my DP also. I ordered a high flow spun cat from ebay also. I will weld it up tomorrow and post pics. You guys look at ebay as junk, but actually ebay is a way of having access to great deals on items that would of otherwise been sold to you with some other brand name stamped on it, and once a name is stamped on it chances are you going to pay for overhead. In this case its just a stainless steel pipe mandrel bent, tig welded, 3", flex, direct bolton,v-clamp(alows for big garret turbo upgrade),and you have all new gaskets. Sure there are better DP out there but for the price ($150.00 shipped)you can't beat it. Same thing goes for high flow catyltic converters. They have ceramic and metalic style high flow stainless steel spun cats that come with waranties. I went ceramic(50.00 shipped) but some would prefer steel core(80.00 shipped). My one came with a 5year/50,000 mile warranty that i will pass emissions. dont sleep on ebay...

if you smoking 5w40 oil worked perfect when I had ms3 fully bolted on meth running 21 psi never smoked.....I was using Pennzoil euro spec forumla

adding thinker oil is a band aid not an actual fix.

Telling people to follow your advice is sorta misleading depending how fucked your pcv system is and or your dynamic seals on our crappy turbo using your oil or any oil may not help everyone.

The only way of remove the smoke is to go to a ball bearing turbo. Many people that smoke automatically assume its their turbo. First thing you should do is do a compression test to check if oil is getting past your piston rings.

As for your comment on meth that does nothing for the smoke issue. Meth does 3 main things for us

1. It keeps the head clean. (carbon build up in the valves and guides)

2. Cools off bats (better performance)

3. It gives you a slightly higher octane content depending on what mix you run. This helps keep Knock in check.

ive been down this road before and experienced the fuel pressure dropping which came after upping boost(AP stage 2 with intake and tp.) but i got rid of the AP and put my stock exhaust back in. my pump is my next mod. i have already gone through 3 bad batches from PTP and phailrider

so no, if i needed it four mods ago, i would have gotten it already but there hasnt been a need b/c the fuel pressure has been fine. there was no drop in pressure from having fmic, intake and stock exhaust. now, i know there will be a need and soon...just not right now.

but a APR/CPE pump is next on my list

lemme tell you something...

the V band option for the 6 is great and all but the POS cunt gasket they give you for the vband makes it IMPOSSIBLE to clamp the vband shut..

i spent so much time on that one thing it made me wanna take my fists to the car..

i peeled one metal layer off the gasket and used that with Ultra Copper and it clamped shut..

anyone getting a speed 6 dp with vband good luck with the vband gasket..

240, I'm not gonna bother making a thread about my DP.
I'm an experienced tech, ive worked at ford and jaguar and it seems everything I do to this car it turns from a 4 hour job to a 2 day job.

you guys have the speed 6 pics in this thread and the install is pretty easy except for the vband gasket and one of my turbo studs stripped and all the studs backed out.

i replaced all the studs with 10-1.5, 30mm hex head bolts with two flat washers and a lock washer and bam i'll never have rusty POS stud issues again when I replace the POS k04 with my 35r..

BTW, my car finally started to smoke at red lights today the day after my dp was installed. W/E...
and a new CEL =).

good luck guys.

edit: the hex head bolts I got were 17mm socket heads, from the stock stud nuts were 14mm..

if you go my route and get the hex heads and they are 17mm....you won't have an issue except for the middle top bolt on the flange.
you can't fit a socket or a wrench around it you have to use those wrench heads that go onto a socket wrench with extension.....its the only way...

As far as the studs, I'd probably replace them regardless.

yea its p0421 i think....bad catalyst-bank 1 or some shit... (cause. NO CAT...)

my car smoked a lil from the ultra copper but today when I drove it no more smoke..

the flange had some white smoke coming off the flange where i saw some anti seize and silicone... after driving it last night the grease had hardened and no more of that smoke.

I'm almost certain my car will smoke out the tail pipe when sitting at idle due to the DP..
that problem will be solved with a GT35r..

oh, if you look at my pics the 02 bung is slightly protruding more then the stock DP bung but nah... i'll try the diode first and if that is fail then i'll have a longer BANK 1 bung welded in.

Normally the mid pipe takes about 20 mins to get off. I hate when you get through the hard stuff and get hung up on the easy stuff. You should see how my wife feels about my cat back install. Its really funny how fast she becomes uninterested in talking to me when I bring up the subject.

i think it took two attempts and 2hrs total time to install my tp bc of the gay little hang ups

i swear i hate working on this car
