Ya it looked like that before I changed the PCV valve. 82k miles on the original PCV valve.

I could hear the valve inside jiggling around when I shook the PCV. Is that an indication it wasnt stuck in the closed position?

That's an indication that the spring gave up. You'll have some movement but nothing I would say is jiggling. That is more than likely the issue.

So if the spring fails the valve stays closed not allowing pressure from the crankcase to escape?

I've done a lot of searching and can't seem to find my answers but does PTP not exist anymore? I'm wanting the PTP Pill to prevent any future issues. I see JBR makes the bolt for the turbo that I'll most likely get down the road.

Thanks for the confirmation. After Google searching all day yesterday I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going crazy. Been out of the MS game for a long time but recently got another one.

I'll get the new turbo bolt and put a couple catch cans on the car for now or go with one of my set ups.

Are you sure about that? I thought it became HPFPUpgrade.com

Ptp as a name is gone. Sorry, i should have been clearer. Or I may have been keeping that name out of this so people wouldn't buy from him haha. I think the name change occurred about 2 years ago.

Thanks, you're right. Somehow I misread your earlier post and conflated PTP and Protege Garage. PTP became HPFPupgrade, and Protege Garage is now FJPerformance.

Actually, I'm pretty ptp became Damnfastdd.com. hpfpupgrade was created around the same time as the brand of internals, seals, etc sold by dfdd.com.

But, ultimately, it's all still the same guy.

Don't buy the ptp pill waste of money...doesn't completely cure the smoking it just curtails it predictably. The only cure is a new turbo. I tried all of the typical cures when I was on a K04 without fully eliminating smoking.
Isn't the pill restricting the ability for the car to vent under very high boost? Can't be a good thing long term.
Ptp is ddamnfast or something like that. I have his fuel pump (4yrs) and 2075psi relief valve and they are great products and I highly recommend them from him.

I'm sure plenty of people here will respect your highly informed opinion of John and his products, as well as your well-informed opinion of how to fix our smoking issues.

Our smoking issues have been well documented and there is only one 'informed' conclusion on how to completely stop the smoking...new turbo. John is john but his products are hit and miss. I have listed two good ones that I have success with on our cars. If you want to take stock in my opinion on our smoking issues for our cars then go ahead. If you want to try for yourself then go ahead. My 2cents.

I just swapped my banjo bolt out to the one Damond sells so we will see if the bnoon style restrictor bolt works to fix my smoking at idle. I noticed the intake on the intercooler had a good amount of oil where it connects to the turbo. I am hoping this is just blowby from the seals but I am thinking I am going to need to replace my turbo sooner rather than later. I was going to go with a rebuilt k04 but a bnr s3 is very tempting.

1. Don't buy anything from John.
2. 12 posts and a green name doesn't make you an expert on the subject.
3. T6 + Intake + TIP usually does the trick as well, unless the seals are completely blown, in which case, a new turbo is the only way.

Edit: Even a rebuilt turbo didn't work for a local. He's smoke free on a big intake and Rotella T6 and a new turbo now though.
