The inefficiency of the K03 at pressures over 15 psi increases the temperature of the gas more than it is possible for it to compress, or decrease the volume. The result is that the increase in boost pressure is inversely proportional to the volume of air moved. As the compressor works to decrease the volume of air, the rise in temperature works to increase the volume. Eventually the volume of air is expanded by heat more than it can be compressed. A smaller compressor also cannot move large quantities of air at high pressures as would a larger turbo be able to. The size of the K03, although ideal for around 15psi as it was intended for and fast spool up, suffers greatly in high performance applications from "stall speed" of psi.

Learn how to read a compressor map..then look at what the map for a k03 looks like compared to k04. Then kill yourself for wanting to change to a k03.

OP do whatever makes you happy, but make sure you know you are a complete idiot for wanting to change to a ko3.

And they are not running close to 25 PSI on the itty bitty turbo. Good luck fabricating the twin turbo setup when you cant even scrape together enough $$ to get an AP.

ok vw drop the ko3 whent they start using the 2.0t same engine on the audi TT. They use a ko4 same turbo on the mazda. the ko3 was at it limit with the 1.8t

Wrong. They initially did use a K03. I dont know the year that the change was made, but they do now run a K04 on SOME of the Audi models. Just like Mazda, there are different CHRAs used in the K04s. On the DISI we have the K04 on the MS3 flows very differently than the K04 on the CX7.
