Default Ball joint help?!

Any suggestions......

I was putting the nut back on the ball joint stud and seems like the stud was a lil messed up and started cross treading. Was holding the stud with an allen and that started to strip....Not having luck. My Question is: Do you think i can pick up a new nut (I think it is a M12x1.25??) and a tap and die set from Sears to clean up the treads on the Ball joint stud? Or should i tale the control arm off and get a new ball joint installed? I HAVE to get this fixed tomorrow. Thanks.

Well for anyone interested, A Sears Tap and die kit worked. Yes it is M12x1.25 and it uses a 6mm Allen key.
