Default Best TMIC

Now that the Aeros is finally ready to ship I am looking to do a TMIC to install at the same time. I see the three CP-E, Corksport and ETS. Those are in my price range, but which is the best. I see the CP-E has a bigger core 3.25 vs the Corksport at 3.0. Just wanted some input before I buy.

ETS

According to all the searching that I have done. Also everyone who has any experience with aftermarket intercoolers. Not to mention anyone on this forum who has one. All agree it is definitely the best.

Not saying CS doesn't make a good TMIC, I'm sure they do and it is also cheaper. But I think the ETS is worth the extra few bucks.

ETS. While I only had one for a short time after parting out the car for trade-in, I did notice it didn't seem to be giving me much higher BATs than the FMIC, and it was consistently doing so.

Most guys run ETS and they're always top notch with customer service from all I've heard.

I was curious about this also and have seen a lot of people run ETS TMIC's. That's the route I plan on going whenever I upgrade mine.

ETS is the pretty sweet for me.

My BATs are usually within 10 deg of IAT.

So far did any one compare the bat on the genpu with the CP-e TMIC?

I don't even need to go that far, because by touching on the engine bay, CP-e TMIC on Genpu runs pretty hot vs. CorkSport TMIC due to the missing shroud on the CP-e TMIC for Genpu.

Will be selling my ETS from the CX-7 this weekend and drop the CP-e top mount on the CX-7. Kind of hard to let the CP-e go since I got a pretty good deal when buying that shit.

@ALL, please give more details about the car you are running the TMIC on. Because I'm pretty sure for Genpu's owners, the CP-e TMIC (without the shroud) is a pos. But for Gen1 guys it's Gold, specially if you got it the time CP-e was selling it for like $299.

I got my CP-e used from a guy in Colorado for 250 shipped it was a great deal at the time and thats the only reason i got it, im usually within 10-15 of ambient temps.

i have heard a few bad things about CP-e and their welds on the TMIC, but i have yet to have that issue... personally, i would get a ETS, only because of their supurb reputaion. i only went with CP-e cuz it was a great deal and i had the money, didnt really know anything about their TMIC untill after i got it. But so far so good, and i like 3.5 over 3.25... so im kinda on the fence about it.

@jonespm:

I got my CP-e the same time they were doing that deal. Didn't asked my self to much question until some ppl start coming up with melting issues.....

See, the weird thing is that you won't be able to tell until you get a bad product. So far I heard a lot of good stuffs about ETS and none of their products seems to suffer of any imperfection.

So my thumps up for ETS and CorkSport.

I don't understand why the shroud would matter for a genwon. There isn't a hood scoop to direct air onto it so why would a shroud effect the performance. Or is the shroud used as a heat shield?

Without the schroud fitting the Air vent and seals it, the Air flows around the intercoler.

There was a particular reason Why that OM black cover was designed for.

When I ordered mine I was told they no longer offer the larger cores. I wanted a 3.5 but can only get 3.25.

Not to chime in late but ETS for 2 years now. Quality is fantastic. For normal daily driving it is perfect, and subtle. If you plan to track it, or sit in traffic all the time save your pennies and front mount.

Default updates on TMIC? This is a relatively old discussion, just wanted to check

I use my 2012 MS3 for daily driving and track days (time trials and such) I don't need a lot more power, but a TMIC is an easy mod, I already have a bpv, a corksport SRI and cold box, a cobb AP, and some turn fast, stop fast mods. Is there any real difference between the ETS and the others? the price is 200 more or so, is it worth it? Not interested in an FMIC, too much screwing around with plumbing, the added benefit at speed really isn't that much, the main thing is getting out of turns with less turbo lag. (and yes, I'll get strong fuel pump internals too), thanks! .
