(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score New to Forum, need some input The turbo on it has broken, massive oil leak etc, no boost. Mazda have refused warranty. I have done some research on possible ways to get it back on the road again that lead me here. I am looking to replace the turbo myself with either the cheap chinese unit at around 400.00, a rebuilt Mazda unit at 800.00 or a Stage 2 BNR unit at 1000.00. The BNR is for a Mazda 6. So should be a direct fit. Just a diff housing to give more top end hp at the expense of some low end Tq. Looking for suggestions and input on best direction to go. I figure if i am going to spemd some dollars and do the work myself a nice boost in performance would be nice. Will the BNR stage 2 require a tune? Will i lose a lot of low end grunt? I am located at 5500 feet so have a bit more lag than sea level. I don't want to get in deep, i am thinking better more powerful turbo with new intake would be enough. Thanks in advance. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Depends on if you want a little more power. If you get anything other than the stock turbo you need to tune. Don't go chinese on it.

| Not Ranked : 0 score And you will need a tune with anything other than stock. So be prepared to shell out an extra $1k for supporting mods. Cobb AP, HPFP internals upgrade, tune.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Accessport won't work on cx7. But Versatune is good stuff. Warranty extension maxed at 70,000 so SOL. Grab a used OEM on online if possible. Then work on installing a banjo bolt, and an oil catch can. Both of those will help. Wanna add powa? Then consider bigger turbo, a hpfp upgrade, and a tune. Freek and stratified both know Versatune, IIRC. Then get an intercooler upgrade, intake, inlet pipe. Why? Power. It's a slippery slope, very addictive. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Update, thanks for the help. I purchased the Mazda unit that was linked on here. Should be here soon. I have the Mazda back in my garage, the dealership had it stripped. Should be interesting getting it back together. Any pointers or links would be great. Thinking of buying a manual if required. |
