Anyone interested in beta testing?

Probably the wrong car to ask. I'm assuming cobb AP works on these just like they do on every other car with this engine. Basically means there already exists a powerful, proven, affordable solution with a ton of info, and lots of people who know how to get the most out of it.

Would get more response on a car which currently has no flashing alternative, like na/nb miatas.

i actually now dont have time for beta testing work is getting busier so i hope someone else steps up to the plate on this one. id love to have a versa tuner option for the cx-7 and would definitely buy one

VersaTuner for CX-7 is ready to go. Just need a beta tester with a J2534 (Tactrix OpenPort or similar) to do the final user testing. Noone with a J2534 has responded.

We did a successful beta with Mazda 3 MPS testers in Australia, so I think CA will not be a problem. Let me know if you 're interested. Tactrix cables usually show up in 1-2 days. They are quick to ship.

Do I need a dash hawk etc first too? I realize your software says it tracks data too.

There is no need for a DH unless you want something more compact to log with. VersaTuner has full logging and graphing capabilities.

We are going to release Gen 1 CX-7 support very soon. Gen 2 CX-7 will come after Gen 2 MS3. It's not that we don't love CX-7 folks, it's just a matter of demand.

Right. I think we all understand that.

Its just that with a turbo and engine shared with other platforms, and plenty of bolt ons, all its missing is a solid and simple tuning solution.

This is a big thing for me when considering this platform. I have to be able to tune it because i know i'll mod it. I know what a DISI MZR is capable of with just breather mods. If i find CX-7 in my garage there will probably be a SR, DP, and TMIC on the way. And i would love to have a tuning option on the way as well.

With that said, its good to hear the gen 1 may happen. Personally i'm more interested in the gen 2. since i'll be buying new or pre-owned.

It's almost ready for launch. There have been a few CX-7s running VT for a while now.

Awesome. This, and an intake, will probably be the first thing we get for our 7. The 6 is just months away from being paid off and having a plus sized girl friend in the garage.

Please tell me you can change the rev limiter with this function. I'd like to be able to control when the auto shifts.

Edit: eh, we can save the questions for the release thread i'm sure you'll have when its ready for launch.

VersaTuner for CX-7 currently only works with the ECU. We can raise the engine rev limiter. Shift points are managed by the TCM. We will look at the TCM some time in the future.

I meant more along the lines of its an auto and going WOT it shifts at redline. If you one could reduce redline it would spare the car from gasping its way from 5.5k to 6.7k i can only assume like any MZR/K04 its choked out up top. Ya know, keep it in its powerband.

At part throttle and cruise it can shift how ever it wants to shift.

Got it. The K04 on the CX-7 is particularly flow challenged.

1. boost and WGDC's
2. ign timing
3. Defeat boost limits in X gear.
4. Defeat CEL codes
5. Max rpm
6. idle
7. afr's
8. closed loop/ open loop transitions

Given this device comes with tuning software.

VersaTuner for CX-7 has nearly identical functionality to the 3/6 version. The CX-7 version does not have the extended tables that were just released for 3/6.

There are over 150 tables and constants that you have access to for tuning.

I'm about a 3 hour drive from Detroit if you need Gen 2 beta testers. Am currently stock, so I dunno how that would affect anything, though.
