It's funny, I am just at paranoid when it comes to being on the stock block. I target peak torque above 4k rpm and never exceed 350 ft lbs, and I run more octane than I need.

For example; If we are able to carry a conservative 330 ft lbs of torque to 6000 rpm, that equals 376 hp. 330 ft lbs is still safe for a stock block with proper consistent fueling, consistent boost targets (aka. a good tune). There are many who target 400 ft lbs on the stock block with a good tune, and have been laughing. Me personally, my limit for peak torque is 350 ft lbs, and always above 4k rpm. It really comes down to how comfortable you feel, and always realizing that there is a risk if pushed too far. The formula to calculate HP is as follows: HP = (TQ x RPM)/5252 After playing with that formula for a bit, I realized just how attainable high HP numbers are with conservative TQ numbers. The goal is to target a conservative TQ number, and carry it as far out to red line as possible to yield the most HP.

From my basic understanding another way to do that (achieve peak torque at higher RPM) when not through a tune but mechanically is to reduce piston stroke distance and increase bore diameter. In mechanical sense this will change an engines performance by shifting peak torque towards the upper RPM range without taking into consideration any tuning changes. But with stock motor, options are limited to tuning ofcourse. | |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I was tuned for the turbo. I had a over boost code. For some reason I never heard the exhaust leak on my car. Once we pulled the turbo off. The bottom two or three dp nuts were loose. Then we pulled the motor out. The back side of the engine was covered in black soot. I'm happy it didn't go through the block. I just order parts for the rebuild. The block is bored out for 88 mm pistons. Answer yes I want some methanol. But this build is going to set me back. I really want to port and polish the head and intake. But i dont think i have the time to do it But I did notice some things about the oil flow in the block Im going to work at by sanding the block out.

| Not Ranked : 0 score You should mod the transmission also while you are at it...I can send you the pressure regulator upgraded spring if you want (I have one left) Faster and firmer shift really improve the driving experience, but you will have to use the manual shifter for the rest of your life
