Gets a crowfoot wrench, extension, and torque wrench. That's how I did it on my old Mazda.

Because in the oil cooler leaking tread it says if u over tighten it, it will cause a leak aswell. And if I'm just going to guess on what torque it's at. that's why i tightened all the way down then to prevent leaking from over tightening then back it off a smuge..

Did u do the calculations to get the correct torque? after using a adapter like that what the torque wrench says will be off.

There's no easier way the calculation on that is a pia

If the handle of the wrench is at a 90 to the crowsfoot head the difference is minimal. The ones I use have a pretty short shank. If the shank added any considerable length I'd figure it out. I've used these on everything from cars to rifles and have never had any issues. Using antiseize or thread locker causes higher torque values as well. Just don't go crazy wrenching on it.

Hello all, first post here. I has a leak from the gen 1 oil cooler gasket that I repaired in Dec. 2014. Started leaking again this fall. I torqued the cooler bolt but it's leaking again. For the life of me, I couldn't find a void, tear or break on the old gasket I took out but I installed an new one anyway.

I couldn't get a torque wrench on the 4 mounting bolts either but it's not leaking from there. Maybe I got lucky on that.

Before doing this job again, I'm considering buying a gen 2 cooler rather than replacing the plastic/silicone gasket that may wear out in another couple of years. Will the gen 2 cooler mount up to the existing oil filter assbly.? Ebay has the whole cooler with bolt and gaskets for $130 - $160 delivered.

Thanks,
Sean
