(Thread Starter) |   Not Ranked : 0 score  Timing chain replacement? Just bought a 2007 CX-7 with the 2.3 disi and this vehicle is awesome. My only concern is every once and a while when I start it cold, it seems to make some odd sounds, sounds more like a knock then the timing chain. I pulled the oil cap and tried to move the chain, it has a little slack but deff is not loose. Not throwing any codes or anything. No issues other than a strange sound (only sometimes ) when its cold.... Just not sure if its the timing chain or possibly a motor knock of some kind.... Looking for places to start  mechanically inclined but not an expert, I could easily do the timing chain but don't wanna throw the money at it if it isn't even the problem....Also looking at timing chain kits... This is the one I'm leaning on along with buying the tools.
