I hate the Mazda "smart"key

Back in March I financed my 2008 Mazda Cx-7, and I thought the key was kind of cool. I thought it was cool until I started forgetting the keys to my apartment. I usually keep the key in my wallet because I hate carrying stuff in my front pockets, but I hate having it in my wallet as well.

How do you guys carry your smart keys? Is it possible to switch over to the fob style key, so I can carry my car key on my keychain again?

The OP is actually a combat vet and I do carry a SD40 with Apex trigger. I'm just looking for a better solution to carrying my key. I'd rather it be on a key ring with my house keys. If you don't have a solution then get fucked. Go troll somewhere else

I went to a Mazda dealership just to get a quote on a new one, and asked if you could switch to a "physical" key and you can't. Just got to man it out and carry it around.

I saw this post this morning before anyone replied and made a mental note to check on it later for lols. I am so glad I did.

Really though, just use a small drill bit and punch a hole through it. Or just get a magnetic key box and slap it on the underbelly and you'll never use it.

Or put it in your butt.

Credit card key has a small hole in the bottom corner that you can thread string/wire/whatever through. Thread something through and attach to your keys.
Also, start locking your apartment.
Also, if you're forgetting them on the way to apartment then leave apt keys in the car.

I have tried this already. The previous owner must have ripped whatever he/she had in the hole out, because the lanyard I threaded through the hole came right off. The case is also cracked.

Yes the post was stupid, and I knew I'd be flamed for it. When I was looking for a way to replace the case, I found the fobs and empty smart card cases. I wanted the fob instead of the card. I don't get how thats stupid...

If you want the key fob, order a key fob and have it programmed or program it yourself if it's possible.

First, you can get a brand new one at a dealer, though they are expensive. Second, you can go to a locksmith and get a duplicate made. You need to go to one that knows how to do chipped keys.
