(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score So 50,000km on my 2009, had some shimmy when braking so went with new pads up front. Got Wagner's semi-high performance. Both fronts were less than half thickness, and wearing unevenly. Anyhoo, slapped the brakes together, and with new pads the shimmy was even worse so I knew the rotors were gone too. Odd since they had been machined once already, (stealership around 30,000km) and now at 50,000km they were gonzo. Got a set of premium rotors for $95 each for NAPA, no slotted or drilled. Im surprised at how easy the replacment was. Only bitch was the 2 Rotor set screws. No idea why we even have them. So stripped the f outta 1 on each side, so had to get one of those drill/bore tools and it worked in 10 seconmds..screws came out great. Also used a crazy amount of liquid fire release to loosen those screws (not sure if thats the proper name). Put the rotors on, greased up calipers and new pads and voila....no shimmy. Great braking, sturdy stops. We'll see how the wear in goes. Anyway point of this thread was to point out that the front pads and rotors are easy as shit to do on our 7's...mind you the rears i didnt touch. Only thing i noticed was the OEM pads had two shims, a metal and a second shim which was so deteriorated i tossed them.
