(Thread Starter) |   Not Ranked : 0 score  Glove Box Damper Hello - Having changed cabin air filters on other Mazdas, I was confident I could do the same for my wife's 2010 CX-7. WRONG! While it came apart very easily, and the filter replacement was a breeze, when I got to reattaching the damper arm that I ran into a wall. In order to get it close enough to reattach, the glove has to be almost entirely closed. With the glovebox closed, there is no way to access the damper arm to reattach it. The how-to video I watched showed the guy just reaching right in and reconnecting it...plenty of room for his hand. (the video was for a 2007, but claimed to be 2007 -2010) There is no room for my hand, and the damper does not descend far enough to attach with the glove box partially open. I am stuck, have been reduced to a babbling idiot. To make matters worse, the thing is so flimsy that I am afraid I've already damaged it so badly that it won't reattach. Does anyone have experience with this. As I missing a step? A special tool? I'm thinking a long screwdriver might work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Andy |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Never mind - although I could not find anywhere this is mentioned, the damper (duh) extends and (more importantly, for my dumba*s) retracts. In the retracted position, you can't reattach it. Just pull on it gently and it extends to where it needs to be for reattachment. Here's hoping I didn't damage the thing so bad f'ing with it that it won't reattach anyway. Wish me luck. |
