How to fill the rear tire well

1st of all i'd like to say. This project had several purposes

1. To be Cheap
2. To Cut Back on Exhaust Drone from the aftermarket catback
3. To Have a place back there to eventually mount the battery. I am planning for a relocation in the future


OK on to the good stuff...

supplies: two sheets of insulating foam from home depot or lowes. They Come in big sheets usually pink or blue and are $12 each.

Box Cutter $1

Screw Driver - Phillips Head $1

Adhesive Spray for Headliners $8

Sound Deadening Spray (optional) $8 You Really only need one can

This brings the total cost to about $42-$45 after tax.



Prep Step: Remove the plastic containers on the sides of the spare tire wheel well

Step one 1. Cut your foam. I did not measure I am sure it would've turned out better. I cut the two sheets into four even pieces and then cut those down even further. You need 5 sheets of this shape for the main piece. SAVE THE EXTRA BITS!



Step Two 2. Place each sheet individually down in the compartment ensureing they all fit in there. Notice I cut a pocket already for my sub

Step Three 3. Glue Them Together With The adhesive spray.



Step Four 4. Make A Small Base to fit under the main one. This part fills in where the spare tire actually went. I did it in 3 pieces. One Big Circle. A Smaller Circle. And two Supporting Pieces. I glued them altogether in the pic


Step 5. After Test fitting that piece Its time for assembly. Install the small base first. You Do not need glue for this part. I Covered the whole thing in deadening spray before I Placed it down


Step six 6. Install the Bigger base ON Top. Once Again I covered this in sound deadner Before Putting it in.


Step Seven 7. Wait To Dry and Then Reinstall Sub or anything else you may have back there.





Now for the spots that are empty you can go back and cut some pieces of foam and glue as you fit. That's what I did. I am sure If I took my time making some sort of cutout this wouldve turned out nicer. But I am Happy overall.

The Drone is basically gone and my bass response from my sub also improved.

I was thinking after the battery relocation is complete to fiberglass this into one piece.
