Yesterday was dis assembly day, most of the stuff came apart nicely aside from 1 exhaust manifold nut, and the spacer pin in the rearend got lodged into the top of the power plant frame making it damn near impossible to get out. so its still under the car.





And i also got the reroute in, if i ever have to get to that with the trans in life is going to suck.

Alot go finished today, new water pump, clutch is in, coolant reroute finished, manifold on, downpipe in ( we had to lift the motor and move the steering to get enough clearance to slide it through) lots of other little stuff

Worked most of today so didnt get much miata time, but did manage to get the steering rack back in, new timing belt on, turbo final mounted, wastegate on. i have to check and make sure the wastegate will work in that position it felt a bit weird. some wiring for oil temp/pressure gauges ran. only pic for the night.

Started today trying to finish up the fuel system, why is it so hard to find a female 3/8 npt to 5/16 barb fitting? anyway did the fuel pump it had a walbro in it already, part number was different from my 255lph so possibly a 195. tank looked new and the tray had 0 rust on it, which was a huge bonus.
fit the fuel rail and injectors as well

So I'm working on my car and the motor mounts were ripped so Im now installing some new ones. Before the motor was sorta level from side to side, now on the reinstall the motor is tilting heavily to the passenger side. What did I do wrong? It looks like all the marks from the previous set line up with where the new set sits.

Replaced all 2 of them, the problem is obviously on the driver side but I'm not sure what's causing it.

That shows where the mount should be setting but it's not moving down like it should

Problem solved, the driver side had 2 different holes for the mount to fit in, it keep settling into the top one, i needed the bottom. passenger side just had an oblong single hole.
Got these mounts in the mail, and how i left it for the night. should finish up the coil on plug wiring tomorrow.
Final Checklist
  • Finish Cops
  • Finish AN Fuel Lines
  • Finish Intercooler pipework
  • Reinstall Front Bumper
  • Have Erat weld Sensor bung for IAT
  • Check Fluid Levels
  • tighten all hose connections
  • New map for IAT equipped car
  • Prime oil system and fire

yea i want to drive the thing like you wouldnt believe. also this weekend can you take a look at the tune on the speed, maybe dial out some of the throttle sensitivity. i feel like its way overly sensitive right now.

i can get it started but it acts as if its running on 2cyl. i have to hold the throttle to keep it running. im going to try wiring the cops in wasted spark to see if it will run correctly. sidenotes Holding good fuel pressure 50-60psi. Wideband is reading a steady 13.6 while cranking.

Update it now runs without forcing it to
Revrant told me to change the required fuel to 3.6 since i am running e85, fixed a faulty pin on the connector i assembled for the coil on plug harness, i also fixed the intake cam ( it was 1 tooth advanced). and then it ran.

Now it is time to go through and get the clutch broken in and then tune it.

found an exhaust leak while driving, so I disassembled it.leak was caused by uneven ceramic coating. All 4cyl were showing signs of leaking. Mostly small leaks. Leveled it out, the cleaned The gasket up, added a small amount of high temp sealer to the manifold side just as a precaution. Resealed everything and it is setting up overnight. On a side note I'm really happy with the placement of the intercooler looks like an aftermarket radiator. If I can get it tuned a bit tomorrow I am taking it to cars and coffee Saturday am.

I always end up putting some of that copper gasket spray stuff on the exhaust mani gasket.... no leaks yet. I also don't use gaskets (gasp) between the mani/turbo... just a thin, thin layer of copper rtv. zero leaks, before or after getting mani coated.

the coil on plugs were giving me all sorts of problems, so i went back to stock ignition and now its running great. needs tuned but its getting there.

Drove from the Detroit burbs to Columbus a few days ago (one of the hottest days of the year thus far), was holding intake temps in between 95-100F 60-80% humidity and coolant temps 190-215F. So I need to do some serious ducting and maybe a thicker radiator. I'm going to start with ducting because the temp would be in the 190s around 55-68mph, above 70 it would climb to 200-210F. a couple pics, its definitely strange to see your own car following you.
I have a squeaky belt on startup for a while. New belt, water pump and the pulleys where all clean. We discovered the alternators bearings are shot, on startup it squeaks, after about 1min of idle you cannot touch the alternator pulley. Time for a new one.

Sidenotes: it pulls harder on wastegate pressure and barely tuned in boost then my first miata did completely tuned. have not ran it against the speed yet but it does feel faster.

not much going on as of late, my buddy and i ran the speed and the miata from a 30mph roll just for grins. the miata on wastegate(8psi) pulls about 2 car lengths on the speed. i couldn't be happier with that, i am going to turn the EBC back on and set it for about 12-14psi and do some tuning. i also turned the check engine light into something useful its now a shift light.

the speed is mostly stock. 06 speed6 with SRI, AP with an off the shelf stage 1 tune, and short throw shift kit. the miata with the megasquirt ecu the check engine light really did nothing else, the software has some built in sensor checking stuff that will cause a cel but it really doesnt give you any info. so for my purposes its pretty much useless, i have intentions on doing full custom LED gauge cluster and im going to put provisions for having both the tach and speedo light up for a shift light. but thats pretty far down on the list of things that i will be doing.

PS: butt dyno says the miata is making 200-220hp

on the speed, no its a newer stock one.

I meant on the miata. I bought a walbro 255lph pump but some people say you do not need it with 1000cc injectors?
