Default AIC's build thread

Its not going to be fancy or hopped up, but I would like to have a nice Daily

2003.5 Mazdaspeed Protege.

170hp turbo 2.0l, 102k miles on the clock. Should be a lot of fun. Not sure how much I'm actually going to do to it other than just fix it up nice, and have a great daily driver that will be a fun car to drive.

Thanks for the tip. I don't actually plan on doing much engine modification, at least not any time soon. I plan on getting it set up for being a great daily driver.

Just got back from the MVD, got it all registered.

Have a couple of things coming already in the mail, a new trim piece, and a remote for the door locks. Since the driver's side door is keyed differently.

Does anybody know where to pick up touch up paint?

Ordered a bumper trim piece, the box it came in was crazy big:

Looks a bit... acura-ish.

But better than the gap that was there before.

Another small project done. Waiting to take it to the shop tomorrow for them to do a full once over on it. Figured I would have them give me a check list of things that need to be done, and have the fix the A/C for me.

Sad face, was driving yesterday and the CEL came on, got 3 codes:

P0302 missfire cyl 2
P0704 Clutch switch failure
P0660 Secondary Shutter Valve Open

I have plugs and wires coming, as well as a new switch for the clutch. Not sure what to do with that last one.

Short list of things I want to do to my MSP over the coming weeks/months. Not in any specific order, other than what came to mind as I was typing it up. I'll update as I get stuff done, and think of more stuff to do:

Replace brake reservoir cap
Replace coolant overflow bottle
Replace brakes
Replace shocks
Replace shock mounts
New Tires
Alignment
New Motor mounts
Clear coat repair
Spark plugs
Spark plug wires/coils
Flush brake fluid
Replace power steering pump
Intake upgrades
Blow off valve?
Clutch pedal sensor
VICS/VTCS solenoid replace/repair
replace/repair side mirrors

Last night, knocked out a few things on my list, and started my replacement of shocks and brakes. Got the front passenger side done between getting home from work and dinner, hoping to make more progress this weekend. Its still 110 degrees and 30-40% humidity, so working for any length of time is killer, especially when you're fat and super out of shape like I am.

but most cars never get a song written specifically for them, so you're a future legend once you're done.

Lowering springs came in, so 3 corners done. Need to finish up the last one tomorrow or the next day, have a few other small things to do, and then I can start driving it, and then start working on cosmetic issues. Super excited to be further along on this project. Very satisfying.
