Default Protege Caught in the Arizona Monsoon

Good Evening All,

Hope you can help point me in the right direction.....have a 2003 Protege 5, 150k, runs (before today) spot on, with just a hint of age......The Rains set in and as most Arizonians react to rain, so did the car, with pure stubbornness and then shock.....The rain was quick and heavy....the streets started to fill up. I was trudging through it and started to notice sluggishness in both the acceleration and braking. I figured it was just the quantity of street rivers I was pushing her through......Almost home and hit the Nile, and seriously no joke, it was surprising the depth on a surface street in the middle of Phoenix downtown.......She stalled up on me and wouldn't re-fire. I was able to push her off the train track(yes, joke all you want, that the one place I stall out on is a freakin train track with the crossing light flashing on the next road over, felt i was in a looney toon cartoon).....After getting her set off to the side, I tried to turn her over a couple times, I would get bright lights(not a battery problem), and I would get crank and one hit and one hit only. After the single hit, it would just stop cranking. I left it for thirty minutes, the single turn of the crank sounded stronger, so I thought I just got water where it didn't belong. But after an hour, still the same thing, just one spark and nothing further. Okay, now with the rest of the symptoms.....the electrical is off, I have a red led on the lower left of the steering column(assuming it is security system) that is flashing, the dome light is lighting when it shouldn't, have a check engine light that spawned from the event that was not there before........I can only assume the stall created an event in the system that needs reset, the water tweaked out a sensor, or shorted a wire.......Where would i start first on diagnosing what my failed attempt at turning a protege into a boat would be......I seriously didn't think it was 'that deep'......but probably 12 inches deep. All help and snide comments welcome
