Default Missfires and rough idling

Hello,

I have a 2003 Mazda Protege Speed, I bought it a few years back with a blown motor and rebuilt it. I have the head checked and done professionally along with the block. About four months (or more) after the rebuild it started to have a rough idle and sometimes spit the code for a cylinder misfire, always cylinder 1, and start really hard. I changed a coil pack and it ran great again for a month or so, then replaced the other coil ran great again... And same process on and on. Is there anyone that has had the same problem with this car? I want it fixed my gas mileage is terrible right now too...

Also the car starts really hard, I will have to cycle the key multiple times to make it start. You can tell when its going to start the car will spin over way faster and start up instantly. If it doesn't turn over quickly like it should i cycle the key multiple times and it seems to fix it. I had the starter checked and it checked out good.

My main problem is the misfiring and shaking and bad mileage if anyone knows what to do!!

Thank you!

I would pull the plug in cylinder one and look at it. I would also run a compression test in cylinder 1, to rule out a sticking/bad valve, or bad rings.

If the spark looks fouled from gas, you could have a stuck injector, or no/poor compression.
