Default Car won't start and dealership claims starter and CPE hpfp are the cause

I have had CPE hpfp for approximately 6 months. Only other mod is SRI. The story: got in to drive it to work, turned the key, and it was silent for approximately 3 seconds before turning over. (Normally it turns over instantly) On the way to work it was on empty. (The empty light turned on a couple miles from my house the night before) Got to a gas station, put in 4 gallons of 92 because I didn't think it could make it to a gas station that had 93. Tried to turn it back on and it wouldn't do anything. No sounds. Dash and everything light up, doesn't attempt to turn over. Took the battery to autozone, it tested good. Put it back in, car started but was idling weird without ac on. Drove it to Firestone, they tested the battery again, starter, and alternator. According to them, they were all good and it turned on fine for them every single time. Left the shop and it ran like normal for a day. Then it wouldn't start again. Hitting the starter, it will turn over but won't catch. Got it towed to a Mazda dealership and they're telling me my starter and hpfp are bad. They did not know what a CPE hpfp was. They want $1,200 parts and labor. I live in Richmond, VA and any help would be greatly appreciated. Thoughts?

First of all, don't let those fucks take your HPFP.

Sounds like you may have a faulty ground wire.

Ground wire looks fine and I used a terminal brush to make sure contacts were good.

Doubt CPE FP and starter went out at the same time.

You have:
1) slow to turn over then start
2) no turn over
3) turns over and starts
4) turns over and does not start

Sounds like the little ground wire on the hpfp deal is loose, or ground is corroded up and bad overall.

Check the whole length of wire to the starter. Sometimes the wire can corrode inside the insulation and the starter will check fine but the wire will not carry enough current to fully engage the solenoid and starter. However, the "no sounds" is indicative of no current to the solenoid. You should at least hear some clicking of the solenoid.

Get it away from the dealer.

It is super common for the connectors to have corrosion. The fix, as I first posted, was to tap em.

Check the ground that connects to the HPFP, that little wire fucks with a lot of people. While you're at it check the other chassis grounds too.

There are like 3 ground wires, FYI, not just the battery GND.

There is one on the HPFP.

A weird little sense one, on the starter itself.

And a few others I can't remember.

Your issue, is almost assuredly a faulty connection of some kind. All the info you have provided, points to a faulty connection.

Double tap. Get some electrical contact cleaner spray as well, but best practice is to replace the connectors and or wire.
