Steering Wheel issue.

Okay so on the left top side of my wheel the stitching has come loose and deteriorated around the 10 O' clock position. Not much maybe half and inch or so but it drives me nuts because i can feel the gap when im turning. Is this something that the stealership will fix? Ive only got 20k on the thing. Its obviously a factory defect as the rest of the wheel is pristine. Thoughts?

Yes it will be covered so strip off all the mods and bring it in. Well hope you dont have to do that for real but yea that would be a warranty issue.

Well FAIL. These guys took one look at my otherwise PRISTINE steering wheel and decided that the 1/2inch piece on the stitching was clearly a "wear issue". I asked if they considered stitching falling apart at 20,000 miles the norm for wear and tear. "typically no." So I called Mazda and they called the dealer and told me that they have to go by what the reps at the dealership tell them. Fair enough, I told the Mazda guy that anyone that didnt have anything to gain by denying me service would disagree. He said that if I took it to another dealer and they disagreed with the wear issue that they could do something for me. SO tomorrow im off to another dealer. Im going to make it clear that I dont want them to do the work just to inspect the car and see if that doesnt get a little more honest read from them.

clearly the ware was cause by your exhaust system. try stocking out and bringing the car back to the dealership

They didnt even look at the rest of my car. I dont think they knew it was modded at all beyond the gauges. Maybe I should stop driving with my hook hand. Thats what did it. Damn prosthesis. Siggh. More as it develops.

That has got to be way annoying and frustrating to be going through this. Keep the thread updated. Hope things fare better at the other dealership.

So I went to a different dealership and the guy took one look and said "they called that wear?! Assclowns. Do they not know there is a TSB for that?" I was like "huh?"

So within five minutes they had a new wheel on order, and a new fuel pump since the other place didnt do the TSB for that. AWESOME guys over there. They told me that they would have me a rental car ready when the wheel came in because it might take a few hours! UNBE-FUCKIN-LIEVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!

For those in the AZ area. Biddulph Mazda W. Bell road Peoria. Top notch. They also had a flame job MS3. I will get some pictures of that next time im up there.

Just went out and checked mine and there were two spots where the leather is flipping up. I'm calling Monday to schedule an appointment for this.

Same thing happened to my steering wheel but at about 17k miles. Took it into the dealer and they replaced it without question. Even got a rental car for me. Glad they took care of you.

Steering wheel installed, endlinks tightened, motormounts checked and they washed my fucking car! These guys ROCK.
