Default My detailing thread

I am finally ordering some Menzerna products. My XMT stuff is gone to crap and I have been unable to get some hazing out of my paint.

I picked up this:
Menzerna Intro Kit, Menzerna polishes, Menzerna Final Polish, Intensive polish

Detailed the exterior of my car over the weekend. Came out pretty good. Removed all the hazing.

I'm a fan of the Menzerna polishes myself. What polisher did you use? Wax? Sealant? Coating? If you haven't found us already, there is a group on FB "Mazdaspeed Freaks Detailing" that's getting fairly active in the detailing scene.

I just have a PC 7424.
I have been wanting to switch to Menserna for a few years but didn't want to spend the money, however I am very happy so far.

I washed twice with Dawn, claybared and washed again. Dried with leaf blower.
Polished with white lake county on IP2000/PO91E then Grey pad with FF 3000. Used Pinnacle SSII wax. No sealant or coating but plan to do something before winter.
I am going to try out my Klasse All-In-One Polish with an orange pad on Blue CX7 and see how that works as an easy one step. If it works well I may just go over my car with in before snow comes.
I also have Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze but have never had luck with it.

I don't know how to find anything on FB.

I did a coating on my car. GTechniq C1/EXO. Makes washing and a drying it a walk in the park. Not sure on how long it will last, but I've got a few thousand miles on it so far and seems to still be working great.

25% off ONR is actually pretty good. That's what I get with a wholesale discount through detailed image. If you are looking for anything, let me know with a WTB thread or something.
ItsNox likes this.

I got 128oz of ONR for $30 shipped. Sale was extended thru today.
The GTechniq C1/EXO is a bit expensive for me.

I am almost out of SSII wax so either need more wax or sealant or need to figure out how to use my Klasse Sealant Glaze as I have a huge jug. It just always hazes over on me.

I was considering getting a different glaze and sealant but not sure what.
here is a List of Great sealants per @rfinkle2;
  • Duragloss 111
  • Duragloss 105
  • Collinite 476s (may be considered a wax)
  • Collinite 915
  • Collinite 845 IW
  • Four Star Ultimate Paint Protection
  • Menzerna Powerlock
  • Poorboy's EXP
  • Zaino

Another quote from rfinkle2/Rob:
Menzerna Intensive or Super Intensive, followed by their Final Finish...

Then you want to glaze it... Poorboys World Black Hole Show Glaze for Dark or 3M Perfect It 3000.

Once you got the shine back up, its time to seal it.. Here is where you need to decide, Wax or Synthetic.. For you, definitely synthetic.

Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant, Klasse Sealant Glaze or Blackfire Montan Sealant Wax.

Then a nice topper like Chemical Guys or Blackfire Wet Diamond. Apply it each month and you are good to go

I also want to get Nanoskin and/or more clay. I also want to get more white and grey buffing pads at some point.

At this time of the year I may just wait.
Looks like I wont be trying the Klasse All in one polish out on CX7 as I don't think this will buff out...

Damn... what happened?
Yeah, the Collinites are a wax with sealant additive, cheap, goes a long way and looks pretty good.
A lot of people like the Blackfire Wet Diamond All Finish Paint Protection.
I personally got turned off by Chemical Guys and their advertising. They seem to have a "product" that is "specially designed" for everything. Ex: Cleaning up bug guts? Well is it from love bugs or lady bugs? They use women to help sell their stuff. To me it means they can't sell it based on its quality.
Yes, the coatings are expensive, but well worth it imo. Makes it so easy to maintain your finish after you put all the work into getting it where it is.

Here's a few videos to show you what I mean;

Wife crashed it during torrential rains the other night. The roads were covered in leaves and she just ran off the road into some poles and rocks. Oh well.

I have chemical guys soap and towels that I got cheap on Amazon but not a huge fan otherwise. My foam cannon rebranded by them is a POS and more like a foam gun.
Wow, I love the videos. I have learned you want water to sheet off like that rather than bead up. So that is the GTechniq C1 or EXO? Only turn off, besides price, was a couple of bad reviews. I just don't want another product that doesn't work for me thou I see you have got it working for you very well.

I may have to pick something up before the sale ends tonight, I just don't know what. Or I may just try to use the Klasse Sealant/Glaze I already have.

My other issue is my hood is so chipped up that it need to be resprayed if the car is to ever look really good again. Along with a couple other dents and scratches that need fixing.

That's the GTechniq C1 as a base layer with the EXO applied midway through the cure time. The C1 helps protect the paint from scratches and stuff adding a stronger layer with decent hydrophobic properties. The EXO is pretty much just for the slickness and hydrophobic effect in my case with a little more protection. There are a lot of good coating out there if you are turned off by the reviews, CQuarts, GTechniq, 22ple, etc.

Just like anything, it is ALL about the prep work before. If you have oils or anything left over from polishing before you apply, it's going to bond to that instead of the paint and wear off quickly.

Like I said before, I get wholesale pricing since I bought so much crap when I first started haha, so let me know what you're looking for and I'll see if I can help you out. It's always on sale for me

I think I am just going to pick up so Collinite 845 for now.
Also a Nanoskin Autoscrub Speedy Prep Sponge – Fine Grade to help prevent my clay from getting so dirty so fast. Then picked up another couple of mothers claybars for $11.69 via amazon Mothers 07240 California Gold Clay Bar System

IDK if I can go thru touchless car wash and be able to use ONR and such to get car clean enough for wax/seal.

I bought an Black A4 B7 that needs a really good polish. IDK if the Menzerna I have will have enough cut to get thru all the scratches/swirl marks.
