Default Nanoskin sponge/mitt opinions

I finally decided to buy a Nanoskin Autoscrub prep sponge, fine grade
Just wondering if anyone else has tried any of the nanoskin stuff or any other "clay bar replacement" product.

I'll be detailing a black hyundai sonata this weekend and will post my thoughts on the sponge afterwards.

@Omega; has one.

We used a combination of the mitt and regular clay bar when we detailed my car. The mitt is quite nice as you can cover much larger areas.

It does an excellent job and seriously I would never use a regular clay bar anymore. There are a few downsides, it WILL marr soft paint so you need to follow up with paint correction on large areas (even the fine grade which is what I have) and you must keep the surface of the mitt clean if the car is really heavily contaminated.

It's not really bad and can honestly be taken out with small amounts of compound by hand so it's easily correctable. This will save your hands hours of pain, I've used it about 5 times over the last 3 years and it's still holding up strong.

TLDR - I love my mitt, I will never clay bar a car again -- enough said.

Do u use the mitt while washing, or after wash?
Detail spray with mitt or soap water?
From what they advertise the mitt as, they make it seem like its supposed to combine washing and claying into one step.

on cars i do for extra $, I typically use an all in one polish/sealant that i apply with a foam polishing pad on my DA. Dealing with marred paint aunt scare me

I have the 6" nanoskin pad for use on an orbital buffer. As someone else has already mentioned, it can mar the paint even when lubricated. I use it for large sections like the hood, roof and doors, then a normal clay bar for any intricate area before buffing and polishing. If I'm just looking to clay before a wax job, I'll typically just clay it by hand.

I have used soapy water with it, I would ONLY do this for minor contamination as if contamination is heavy it won't provide the right lubrication. Also the car should be washed first any removable dirt/grime/contaminants really need to be removed before this step. Ideally you should probably use detail spray, soapy water doesn't really provide much lubrication in comparison.

Marred paint is not bad you have to understand what it really entails, it's basically transferring some of the sticky goo to the surface sometimes but can certainly also introduce swirls if not careful, it doesn't typically do anything major and is pretty safe. Remember always wash/clay one direction, never circular and you should be fine, just pay attention and rinse the mitt often (to free debris).

I honestly would never use this on a polisher as I feel it would be too harsh and can introduce swirls if something catches on the pad.

I got a chance to use the nanoskin sponge a few days ago and I have to say i like it. Cleans way faster then clay. I plan on buying the mitt next.
The only gripe I have is that I can't see the crap that I get off the paint even when i wipe the nanonskin on a light colored towel.
