Default Meth injection troubles

I recently installed a meth kit and I do not seem to be getting the results others here have claimed. I am running a DO meth kit with a d03 nozzle and a labonte vc-25 controller. The pump is working great and everything is running fine. The nozzle, check valve, all lines and hardware works.

I do not seem to be getting the cooling effect others have. It is 85 here today, very humid, and I have only been able to get the boost temps with 3-4 gear pulls to drop to low 100's. From what I understand people are running near ambient boost temps after running through the gears?

I am running intake/rp/tmic/ap and hold 18 ish boost. Do I need a bigger nozzle? Shouldnt I see lower boost temps with my d03 and mods?

Im trying to get a log up but having some trouble.

I know the meth is spraying as I have no knock when the car is hot and has been beat on and afr is a half point lower. I started my run aat 117 boost temps and ran it through 3+4+half of 5th and saw a low of 109 boost temps. Average bat was 110 or so

its 85 here, but it feels much hotter outside, the car is always heatsoaked for the most part. Either way, shouldnt I see way lower temps?

Edit- I found the nozzle in the elbow not screwed in very well and about 1/3rd if the filter is exposed instead of all of it. Going to go test again.

Are the nozzles in the Do kit suppose to tighten all the way down into the elbow so the filter is exposed more, or does it matter?

Unless something is different with the kit you're using the filter should not be visible, check the vendor website as they should have some instruction as to how to position the elbow/filter/nozzle. It sounds almost like it might be on backwards but it's difficult to say. the filter should be inside the elbow, the flat end with the pin-sized hole should be tapped into where-ever you have it tapped....

Post a pic

Subscribing to see the results. I'm in Louisiana as well and would like to see some 85 degree high humidity logs with meth. Also not enough cat avatars here.

on my car i was always 10-15 degrees above ambient with meth stock top mount. With out meth boosted temps were in the 120's-130's stock topmount in your type of weather. Your results seem fine to me but lets wait to see you non meth boosted temps first. Also depends on how much boost your trying to run. You'd think you would have logged your temps before hand since that's one of the main reasons for wanting/Needing meth.

Going to order a d05 and another d03 since i fucked mine. I am not sure what it is, my meth IS spraying. I think my nozzle location may be playing a role in some of this. The nozzle is mounted on the side of the stock cold pipe facing the front of the car. Temps without meth( its off right now) are nearly the same but the car has had a few hours to cool down and wasnt heatsoaked in general.

When testing today the car was atleast somewhat heatsoaked but I figured I would still see a big drop in temps. I am going from a 11.8 or so afr to a 11.5 ish afr, so meth must be spraying atleast some. All of my runs were done pretty consistently. I did not let the car cool down too much since it was hard to find a place to do a pull and I took what I could find. This was all done on the ets tmic.

Maybe I am expecting too much on a heatsoaked car in 85 degree weather? I guess humidity also plays a role and its way hotter than it feels.

What are you other TMIC meth users seeing for temps?

Can you spray while idling? If so, you will hear the engine bog when you spray at idle, then you know it's spraying. Hope that helps.
Same as Darksun280 10-15 above ambient with a stock TMIC.

Will do some more testing when nozzles come in. the nozzel was mounted correctly.

Went to a local dyno, intake/rp/tmic/ap at 18 boost = 236 whp on a dynamics with 170 degree boost temps, a fan that was shitty and didnt even blow the bottom of my car much less the top. My stock dyno here was 223.

The guy claimed I was running super rich in the 10's from his pipe sniffer. I told him that couldnt be right, arent those things super un accurate? Anyways, I guess the crazy high boost temps killed that dyno, i was expecting 250's

What % mix are you running? Remember water cools the air temps more than methanol does. I'd like to see a picture of your mounting location.

only a bit more to the IC, its a poor spot that will be changed.

Just a theory here... if you're running 18+ psi and you have the stock bypass valve its probably opening/leaking and the meth is spraying back into the intake. Obviously if you have an aftermarket valve thats probably not the issue.

Also could be that the spray pattern is causing the water to hit the walls of the cold pipe instead of staying atomized in the air and thus forming big ol' droplets that don't do much for you cooling wise. I would seriously consider re-locating the nozzle to either the freeze plug or maybe the top of the cold pipe.

the 50/50 mix is a good deal of meth. Try running straight water and see if that improves the cooling at all.

Yeah try that. I'm running pretty much same mods as you. Only difference is my cold pipe. Humididy isnt really a factor right now for me. 50/50 mix in 85 degree weather will get me low 70's bat. My nozzle is almost a straight shot to the tb.

Just finished my meth install today with do3. Im fully bolted minus manifold. My average BAT's without meth was around 120, when meth shoots they drop down to the 70's, at night I can get them into high 50's with a beginning BAT of high 90's. This stuff is awesome. Knock is next to completely gone as well. Here is my location.

after fixing my other problem with the meth system.

http://www.mazdaspeedforum.org/forum/foru...t-up-meth.html

I am still having bat issues. Last night 80-85 degrees outside on the stock top mount I was seeing 105 ish mid gear on the first gear, it holds around there for a bit and start raising through out the pull. Some of these are 2nd through 6th gear pulls.

I am running 17/18 boost on a ap, intake, and race pipe. I get no knock and I *think* my afrs are dropping by about .3 points. I am running the devils own kit with a d03 nozzle controlled by a labonte vc-25 controller. All meth lines/tank/pump/nozzle are good and im running the devils brew 50/50 mix. I notice some slight mist in the engine bay after running in boost and pulling over to check things out, I think its meth. I do not think I have a leak but I may and will be trying a different location for the nozzle and making sure everything is tight tonite.

With a turbosmart hybrid bov in full recirc is there any way that I could be leaking meth due to the bov? Will do logs tonite showing temps and off of meth and stock tmic.

Tap was messed up, I was able to wiggle the nozzle a slight bit and under pressure Im sure it was spraying out into the engine bay.

It seems like very little was getting out from the nozzle and I should have had better results though. Still looking for a cold pipe if anyone has pm me. Im going to trying again...

Yeah, probably spraying out and also that was your air leak in the intake track just enough to cause it lol. Glad you found the problem!
Someone give this man a COLD PIPE ALREADY! hahaha.
