Default OFFICIAL MS6/3 deatschwerks DW65C Install HOW-TO

so presumably im the first member to actually install this thing and do a write-up so i just wanted to make sure everyone was aware of a few things that were different from the POS install instructions.

i diddent take any picts because i did this alone and my hands were covered in gas the whole time. it took me about 25 mins but it was the 3rd time i have taken the ITFP out of this car. dustin will add picts later of the install but heres a quick rundown + notes

this is for the MS6 ONLY:

-jack up back of car high as fuck. i backed it up on ramps then lifted the wheels another 6 inches off the ramps using a single jack under the diff.
-loosen all 4 tank straps till the bolt is about 1" unthreaded. this will allow access for the SST inside the car.
-take off bottom of back seat.
-remove 3 screws from fuel pump cover on the drivers side
-unplug the fuel connection (almost identical to the yellow one when doing a CDFP)
-unplug the electrical connector
-use the SST with either 2 or 3 of the legs attached to unscrew the ring around the basket. its tight as fuck the first time you do it. make sure you pry back the 2 clips on either side. dont worry if you break them they are useless anyway.
-pull off ring and lift basket and wait for fuel to leak out.
-pull basket out farther and remove the line coming from the passenger side bucket (same connector as on top)
-slowly pull out the basket as not to bend the float for the level.

-un clip the float from the side and leave it elsewhere
-push the top of the bucket down and you will see a spring around one of the metal supports
-take the c-clip off the bottom of this and it will allow you to pull the top of the bucket off
-un-do the 2 electrical connectors from the lid of the bucket
-you will see 3 clips around the edges of the bucket holding the center cartridge in
-un-do these and pull the center section out.
-turn it over and you will see the filter which is clipped on in 5 places.
-slowly work all these clips off starting with the 2 on the pressure regulator
-once this is off pull the pump out

-reverse steps to put it all back.

IMPORTANT NOTES!!!

-when you take out the stock pump the outlet will have a white plastic sleeve on it.
-transfer this to the new pump
-reuse the stock O-ring (which may have stayed inside the cartridge)

DO NOT USE THE 2 SUPPLIED O-RINGS FROM THE DW KIT!!!!
-the lube they provide is also unnecessary. everything is covered in gas and plenty slippery.

the directions say to stack the 2 supplied o-rings onto the outlet but this prevents the pump from going all the way back into the sleeve. the rings are also a smaller OD then the stock ring and they dont provide a nice tight seal like the stock one does (you can feel it when you push the pump back in the sleeve.

So you don't have to drop the fuel tank ? If not why did you jack it up ?

if your not doing any sort of aux injection, then you dont need this upgrade.

I wouldn't say that... More stable/reliable FP is always nice to have. Cheap insurance IMHO, also gives you room to grow in the future.

I'm definitely doing this as soon as my car comes back.

There is also the possibility of running an additional pre throttle body injector. It's currently being tested

Would you (or anyone else) by change have a measurement of the OE o-ring/seal?

Might be able to find a better match than what is supplied in the kits currently being used.

i dont have a measurement of the stock size. it was a pube hair bigger but it just felt like a much more solid fit. hopefully you guys can revise this to make it a perfect fit!!!

EDIT: they both had the same ID AFAIK, it was just the OD of the stock one that was a lil bigger
