Default Looking to buy a MSP, but something wrong with turbo?

First off, this is my first post on MSF, so hello to all! Hopefully I can get some good feedback. I just went to look at an MSP earlier today. Really clean looking, and I brought my mechanic friend to see if the car is worth buying. Friend says it isn't because the turbo starts spooling at around 5.5k rpm, which is obviously something serious. What could be causing this problem? Is it a cheap fix or do I have to change the turbo completely... I don't possess this car, but I really want this car. If I need to, please let me know if I should post the ad for this car. It will include all pics of the car. Thanks a lot!

Post the ad but from your description it sounds like you need to pass on the car. No telling if the turbo is bad or the motor is bad.

Is a cracked manifold that expensive to fix? I mean the dude is selling it for $5,400, but there are a few things I can say to knock down that price.

If you can spend $5400 why not bump it up a little and get an MS6?

Sadly, there aren't any in my area. There is only one, but it's $6,500 and 165,000 miles.

Way too much money for that car with an undiagnosed problem.

Hmm, alright well I sent the guy an email stating that he needs to diagnose the problem before I consider buying it from him. I also asked him to pull the codes, and see what comes out.

Alright, I'm back with more info on the car. He says that they pulled a code detecting O2 sensor bank 1 sensor 1. They say the replaced it and fixed the problem, spools up fine. But now I'm gonna head up there today and see if it actually fixed the problem.
