(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score So there is not a lot of information out there on these tires, but I needed cheap tires on short notice so I took a shot at these. I picked them up on ebay for $294 (set of 4) shipped. Ebay seller states that Ohtsu is the parent company of Falken and that this are high quality tires manufactured under a different brand. I do not know how all the tire companies are related, but I assumed they were Chinese knockoffs. Once they showed up at my house, they immediately reminded my of the Sumitomo HTR ZIII's I used to run on my 951. Upon closer inspection, they are marked "Sumitomo rubber - Thailand". They are further marked "Made in Thailand"...so better than I expected (china). I have about 500 miles on them so far, my old tires were Ventus S1 Noble 2s. Thus far I would say they are at least as good as my Hankooks. Obviously they turn in better but that could be as related to the sidewalls as much as anything else. They don't get squirrelly in the rain and seem to be stickier in dry conditions. I used to slide my Hankooks with relative ease, the Ohtsu's are holding on in the same spots/speeds my Hankooks would let go. I will update this thread as I get more miles on them, but as of right now I would say these are a great budget tire. |
