(Thread Starter) | ![]() ![]() ![]() Ever since I started using my DO Stage 2 MAP based controller, I discovered how inferior this setup was to running MAF or IPW based. I am not knocking on DO's product at all as it does working as intended, I am merely commenting on how we activate and scale meth injection for our Speeds. I won't get into this any further as this thread is a "How To". Anyways, this write up will guide you step by step on how to convert your MAP based meth controller to MAF based. Note: This is for a 2.5BAR meth controller. START OFF WITH THE CONTROLLER DISCONNECTED FROM THE BATTERY Step 1: Locate the MAF wire connecting to the ECU. The MAF wire connecting to the ECU is red and white with a painted silver stripe. On the ECU connector located closer to the back of the car, count 5 wires up on the left-hand side. ![]() A quick check at idle speeds confirms this is the proper wire. ![]() Click here for a video as well. Turn your head sideways... Step 2: Connect the signal wire from your meth controller to the MAF wire. Step 3: Determine when you want the meth system to activate and when it will reach full spray. For argument sake, I would like my meth to start spraying at 150g/s and reach full spray at 250g/s. Looking at the MAF table in ATR, I see the following. 150g/s = 3.71volts. Write that down. ![]() 250g/s = 4.41 volts. Write that down as well. ![]() Step 4: Convert the aforementioned voltages to PSI. Using the attached spreadsheet, input the desired voltages to get the corresponding PSI values. This will give you an approximation. So, for 3.71 volts, we have 14.4PSI (write that down). For 4.41 volts, we have 19.8PSI (write that down). Step 5: Dial in the PSI values into your controller. - For the start value, enter 15PSI. (rounded up) - For the full value, enter 20PSI. (rounded up) Step 6: Plug in the power source to your meth controller. Done. At this point, you should run a few datalogs to make sure meth sprays as intended. WARNINGS - If the PSI you enter corresponds to a voltage less than or equal to 1.3v, meth will spray at idle. Be cautious (this will also occur with your basic MAF based controller as well). - If you choose to turn off the meth system by unplugging the power source wire to the controller, be sure to disconnect the signal wire from the MAF. Not doing so will make the controller draw current from the MAF wire and make your car run extremely lean. Again, be cautious. As always, do this at your own risk. It works but you have been warned if something goes wrong :-)

| ![]() ![]() ![]() So let me get this straight I can take the map based controller I have and by switching some wire I can have it go off of Maf and nothing extra needs to be bought? If so, thanks and you're awesome |

| ![]() ![]() ![]() i was doing this when i switched to a 3.5 bar map sensor, my voltages wont trigger the 2.5 bar controller because its out of its range. but i tapped the red/white wire at the maf sensor plug itself. on another note I just ordered the devils own DVC-30 Meth controller with a built in 3 bar MAP sensor so I can get my meth to spray correctly without tapping my MAF or MAP .... can adjust from 2-30 psi |

| ![]() ![]() ![]() HAHA! Slick. I was wondering if that is what you were going to do. I believe that maf volts is also loggable (word?)... and I would imagine you could get a decent feel of psi per maf voltage that way. Better to use the spreadsheet, but I was thinking about this the other day. |

| ![]() ![]() ![]() read what i said about the new DO controller i ordered, i edited the post dvc-30 I called devils own and complained I could not control my meth properly because i upgraded my map to a 3.5 bar, then they told me about this controller that has its own MAP built in and i can use that, its 175 + shipping .... anyone wanna buy my 2.5 progressive controller ? |

| ![]() ![]() ![]() its alot harder to controll using MAF instead because you can hit certain G/s without being in boost at all ....I had to constantly fidle with it for different styles of driving, the only good thing about it was at the track you can set the controller all the way down and simply Rev the car and get it to spray and cool down IM ... lol |

| ![]() ![]() ![]() But I heard for bigger turbos it's better with Maf based over map based because much more air is flowing |

| ![]() ![]() ![]() that makes no sense to me. you should be scaling with a bigger nozzle not controller. i can see where you get more g/s at certain psi for different turbos, so you simply change nozzle. |

Running off the MAF is better because the spray is more progressive throughout the powerband (as set by you). When running from a MAP based controller and you go WOT, you go from no spray to full spray within 300-600RPMs (depending on what turbo you're running) meaning when you hit full boost at the lowest possible RPM, the engine is essentially drowning in meth (assuming you have a nozzle large enough). With a properly set MAF based controller, you adjust the flow of the meth to coincide with the increasing flow of the turbocharged air allowing you to a) conserve meth (this is a big big deal when flowing alot of meth) and b) maintain a constant AFR as opposed to having a giant dip on spool up then it gradually leaning out as the airflow outstrips the ability for the nozzle to maintain a richer AFR. At the end of the day, MAF based is superior to MAP.

| ![]() ![]() ![]() owning a 2008 wtf would i do that? a/ you have no clue some people instead of changing out the maf have the ability to clamp it and skew out going signal to the oe ecm.....how about you move onto the remedial section cause this seems to be over you head smartass.
