Default MS3 Shaft Pivot Seal Replacement

http://www.mazdaspeedforum.org/forum/foru...t-seal-116267/

The above is THE how-to I used for my MS3. It is very well written and works for the MS3. However, it is geared towards the MS6. I did mine yesterday (about 2-3 hours) and it was not nearly as involved and there are some caveats.

YOU DO need to remove CAI components. Good time to clean the MAF sensor.

YOU DO NOT have to remove or loosen the transmission motor mount. The MS3 configuration does not require this like the MS6. This will save a ton of time and some expletives. That said, I do recommend removing the battery box for clearance and cleaning. You may need to unclip the shifter cables under the battery box for clearance when removing the shaft. I unclipped the main shifter cable, not the reverse cable. Didn't see any real benefit.

As stated in the above how-to, YOU DO need to remove the bottom bolt (transmission) as identified in the above how-to. The shaft will not disengage from the trans unless you do this.

A T25 torx driver does work for the cotter pin if you don't have a punch available. I thought it may be different due to models but it is not.

Cheers.
