Before and After Dyno Results from the MS6 Atmosphere kit

So @mdd5148; was nice enough to let @www.cp-e.com; borrow his car in order to fab the MS6 atmosphere kit. Before they put the kit on we ( @RichieRichness; and myself) did a baseline dyno on his old setup (ATP GT3076, CPE DP, Midevil EXM). His tune was pretty rough so we cleaned it up and left it rather conservative and safe.

The final pull speaks for itself. Even though he lost a little bit of TQ down low (happy rods are happy) the car still pulls like a freight train. The best pull of the day was 411/407 but the car was out of fuel and starting to knock up top because of it. We left it with 385/378 which was a much safer place to be until mike gets a larger meth nozzle and cleans his valves (80k on them!)

Overall this kit had a few challenges to overcome but they got it made and everything fits perfectly. it will be for sale in the coming weeks as soon as production catches up and they can start cranking out all the parts!!

Thought the car was quick before but it is sooo much smoother and pulls hard to redline. 385/378 on a mustang dyno - I'll take it.

I had a screamer pipe with previous setup but I am loving the sound of the recirc'd external wastegate.

From what I understand, CP-E's dyno is a wicked heartbreaker (yeah, I know dynos are for quantifying gains, but...). This car looks like it is making really good power.

yes, along with the CPE manifold and CPE DP, oil/coolant lines. Mike already had the rest of the items that would normally come in the kit.

Damn that was a shity tune he had to start with. Now with the questions.

So how much boost is on original tune, fixed tune, and atmosphere tune?
How does the spool compare between the two, did you log boost? I would think from the lose in torque, boost occurs a little later with the larger hot side of the tial.
Was there any E85 involved or is this just 93 with meth?
I'm assuming the meth setup was single nozzle, what size a D10?
What intercooler pipe size and core is he running on his custom FMIC?
Was his original DP catted, as I'm assuming the atmosphere is not?
Any CEL's from the non-catted DP, for the people that have emissions testing?

TBH you cant even tell its a GT3076 with a 82 AR. the thing spools to 20psi at 4k but thats because i have him on a load tune and do that purposely to help keep TQ low at low RPM. I take it the dp in the kit is different from what i have since the external WG is marrried to it? I've been wanting to upgrade. May have to think about this a bit.

Would there be a base map to get started on if one were to buy the kit?

since every car and turbo is different you could really just start with an OTS map using the CPE big MAF curve and go from there.

At this point i doubt it. If one doesn't know how to develop a proper base map, then one shouldn't be tuning their new bt setup in the first place. Obviously, there's more to it than improving your ots map.
Personally, my tuning skills have grown and i have the confidence to tackle tuning a bt setup myself. Its all about knowing how to build a proper base map and trouble shooting any issue's that crop up and where to go from there.

There are too many variables to make an base tune. There are people running different intakes, exhausts, intercoolers etc to really narrow it down.

Yes, I understand the variables involved. Then how about a discount from a Sponsored CPe e-tuner? Or add it as an option to the buyer at the point of purchase. Most of the buyers for this kit will either never had a custom tune before. So they would have to pay for new one anyway.

Back in the day, when I had a focus. I purchased a Xios turbo kit, and they had a discounted tuning package through Focus Sport as an option to the buyers for the kit.

As far as I know, CP-E does not have an e-tuner, and probably will not ever support e-tunes unless it would be to just get the car drivable to get it to their shop for a full tune.

To me, it would be a huge liability issue to offer a blanket (all be it a base tune) canned tune with the kit. All it would take is one car to have a compromised engine, and the kit was installed with a base map they sent out to the customer, and then bam....it chunks a rod. Have been in this community for some time now, I can almost bet there are many people out there that will light the torches and raise the pitch forks to a company under these circumstances.

CP-E sells all the parts to make your car build power, and they sell the best tuning solution. Couple that with the wealth of information on this site about tuning, and that is a win win situation.

I knew nothing about tuning with the AP....nothing. I switched from the standback to the AP and had to learn everything from scratch. Doing it this way made me more intelligent about the car.

As @SilverDemon; said, we do not have a sponsored e-tuner. We cannot recommend one as a company because as @SilverDemon; said it is a HUGE liability. If we recommend an etuner and for some reason or another they do not tune your car correctly you can hold us liable for the failuer because of the recommendation. Our only recommendation is if you do purchase this kit that you go and get a custom tune. Who you choose is up to you and if you're local to us we do offer dyno tuning services. There is a section in this forum that has e-tuners. From what we hear they're all really good.

After looking at the cost of the MS3 kit, I'm unsure of the cost. As i can't imagine the special pricing has that much of an impact overall. I could be wrong though.

I like the power curve as it shows a well flowing setup/kit. However you can't quantify the gains from the kit alone by comparing a tune tapering to 18psi with one tapering to 25psi. I assume changes were also made to timing between the baseline and final tune?

a few deg here and there but nothing insane. the reverse taper boost curve is of course what helps the power hold after peak tq but the boost was actually higher on the before runs for all RPM's before peak TQ.

Some quick questions. 1. does the atmosphere kit work with a TMIC? 2. a catted DP? 3. I was interested in a GTX2867r, I know the inlet is 3in opening. What TIP do you use? I know the kit does not come with a FMIC. I have your TMIC and catted DP. I know the DP would have to be changed but I like the fact of catted DP. Trying to keep costs down. Thanks.

1. TMIC. We haven;t tried it yet. We never really though about it because the turbo kit will run a lot better with a fmic. We REALLY recommend a FMIC if you are going to run big turbo. If someone has our manifold with a tmic then it should fit as that is the only thing that might be a fitment issue.
2. The kit comes with EVERYTHING you need including the DP
3. You will have a choice on which turbo to use and as in answer #2 the kit comes with EVERYTHING you need. well except for the intercooler

Take a peek at the speed3 kit. The speed6 kit will follow this general format.
