You're right. That's where the dowel goes. They probably drill through and then ream half way or more and press the dowel in. This way it can be pushed back out if needed.

That install pic makes it look like it might actually support TMIC. Will be a complete bitch getting that lined up with hoses and shit though.

Maybe people haven't considered that Cp-e hasn't finished covering all of the bases with this yet. You guys can be as disappointed as you want with this but remember that we were the ones who kept pushig and pushing and pushing to get them to release it.

Well now it's out and we don't even have any results yet and people feel the need to critique it. Positive critism isn't bad but judgement should be reserved until we've actually got data to look at. Cp-e has always made quality stuff for us and I don't see any reason this won't work out fantastic. Sit tight and just let them work, they'll release the rest, I've got a hunch they released this because they were tired of people nagging them.

That depends on your definition of quality.
Top mounts that perform worse than oem.
Front mounts that perform worse than stock top mounts.
Rubber motor mounts that rip.
Injector seals that leak.
Again, I would have no problem paying Cosworth prices for Cosworth quality.

My rmm never ripped, performed great and now @raynez; uses it and loves it. And logs proved the tmic was much better than oem as well. @InkedInspector; now uses the tmic and he is happy with it as well.

Haha, don't try reasoning with the troll Brennon. He is wise and all knowing. He is especially brilliant in his knowledge of casting. All castings aren't equal, and where they are cast is only a small piece of the puzzle, I may be wrong but I would gamble that both CS and CPe have opted for sand cast parts, lower volume, more cost effective, but lacking the same quality of more expensive ceramic molds. Probably a decision made because unlike Brock, most weekend warriors have no interest in spending multiple thousands on an intake manifold. Obviously you can pretty up a cast surface, but their design seems to make access a bit limited and likely time consuming to polish. Again, time is money, low production part to a limited market, but what the fuck do I know, I just inspect metal on Shit way more important than an engine for a living. I see plenty of rough castings from right here in the good ole' USA that look much worse than this "Chinese sweat shop" work. Clearly I didn't need to say any of this though, as I'm sure Brock knows and is already designing his own vastly superior manifold as we all speak.
Mazdazilla6 and chapy18 like this.

I'm not trying to reason, I'd rather rip my dick off than try to reason with unreasonable people. I understand where he comes from when he wants quality parts, we all do. I was just saying that the cp-e parts that I have personally dealt with and used, were great.

Everyone,

You will notice that Brock ( @Tokay444; )has been banned, and I need to make the reasons for this decision clear. It is perfectly acceptable to be skeptical or objective of parts for our platform. Healthy critique, scrutinizing, and working with our vendors is why things have advanced to where we are today. You are all likely aware that Brock designed excellent injector seals, he was part of that innovation. But recently he has decided to be a bigger part of the problem than the solution. Brock has been attacking members, and vendor after vendor have ended up in his cross hairs. It is that attitude that does not have a place on MSF, and for that reason he has been banned.

If that really bothers you that much then take 20 minutes and go at it with a polishing bit on a dremel. This manifold will already outflow the JMF no problem. I think people are really overexpecting with this. IMO this is about as far as they could have gone with an IM and still keep it affordable.
How do you know it's already going to outlfow a JMF? They've published ZERO FLOW on this manifold let alone any results on a big power car...

I believe Justin is trying to get his hands on one asap to do a direct back to back swap since he has his own dyno now.

Until someone proves this will outflow a JMF, it does not outflow a JMF. Those transitions and velocity stacks leave much to be desired, those look poorly executed.

NOTE: If we are talking affordable... This is a cast manifold that costs as much as a full welded/cnc intake manifold that actually requires physical work to be done to put it together... I'd gander to say in all honesty the cost on one of these to be made is sub $300. Not everyone on this platform is cheap, some people will pay the $$ to get top quality parts on there car... Myself being one of them...

I do not know. Based on what I know about airflow principles, on paper this design provides a better airflow path. I'm not saying the JMF doesn't work, as we've seen the power that can be made on them. Also, being a 6 owner I'm far less than thrilled about how the JMF has to be modified to fit, not something that should have to be done on a $1000 manifold.

Awesome! I'm happy to see we will actually have some numbers that can be compared.

Just adding on a bit here this piece is also CNC'd too. After it's cast they still have to cut for the access plate, all the mounting areas (map sensor etc.), injector bosses, etc. While the casting may not be too expensive there is still extra work that goes into this. With a handmade piece (eg JMF) you are mostly paying for the fabrication time. With a casting you are paying for the process. In either situation both companies need to make money, how they achieve that is just a different road.

As it is CNC’d why not go in through the access port and do a light smoothing on the bells? I am thinking a ball hone would do the interior well but seeing casting remnants on the edge make me hope these pictures were rushed with unfinished product. also, does/has anyone seen the head side of this equation, how do the runners mate (angle, split, or?)

Excited about this but am afraid we rushed them and the result is we don’t have the full story. (install doc missing, test/beta evaluation results, etc).

Appearances are what they are, I don’t disagree with you but I don’t see a product I would unbox and place on my car, I would go at it with a ball hone and a dremel first, possibly none of it matters as it is likely an improvement on our stock parts (not sure how it wouldn’t be, its tapered correctly on the plenum side and the bells look to be about the right size). My question is it a 1k improvement.

My guess would be because that kind of additional CNC work would take a ton more time on the production as well as having to write it.

It kind of looks like theres a slight angle to the runners, somewhere between stock and JMF. Also they are split like stock after the bellmouth.

I am really curious to see how this performs. Hopefully they will spend a bit more time with the fit and finish for orders taken from now on though, especially considering the price. But it is nice seeing another option for our platform.

I have been wanting a intake mani for a bit. I'm going to be buying this. I want PI for my 6262....she's thirsty lol

Also after 2 years of waiting for the IM, I figured I would see more positive posts... instead I see more complaining... lol just an observation.

I don't know that I'd say it's all complaining, I think the general population on msf cares more about numbers and facts than pictures of a shiny new toy. I think we'd all like more info on the fuel rail, as well as some real proven results. I'm sure in time we'll get that information and you'll see people start being more positive if the results are deserving of praise.

exactly, right now we know exactly what we knew a month ago, but now we can spend money. Without any data supporting this expensive upgrade anyone purchasing one is making a big gamble.

do i think this will be better than stock? yes

do i think this will be better than the less expensive JMF? no way to tell.

This post sums up exactly why I just bought a jmf. I was waiting thinking the cpe would come out around christmas. But with the complete lack of data and how the fuel is set up and even 360 pictures I'm sick of waiting.

Dowel? I believe its for one of the 3 threaded vacuum nipple fittings, id say the BOV.

Now this is something i want to personally address....

Brock has been a long term member of MSF. He has designed some brilliant seals for our injectors.

However, he has found himself in a bit of a scruff with a few vendors over the last 18 months. There were times that he was talked to about how his actions were inappropriate, which he agreed they were and would stop his non sense.

Unfortunately, he continues to renege and attacks new parts produced as he may not agree with their design, price, or who is manufacturing it. This wouldn't be an issue if say we had a large scale platform like mustangs, evo's,, honda's, etc... however, we are a Niche platform and its not like companies are developing new parts weekly for us. I feel this isn't what the platform needs... we need to embrace new parts so our platform has more options for making power. Intake Manifolds are key pieces for us using aux fueling to make big power.

I am upholding the ban on Tokay because he had many opportunities to clean up his act. Brock as a person is a good guy but when you walk onto the forum with an agenda, its not going to get you very far. I know there is a save Tokay thread, but there is no saving someone who has been continuously warned and counseled for previous attacks on other vendors.

We are not a GTR platform... we definitely are not interested in paying 8X the $$ for parts because they look pretty or carry the "compatible with gtr" label. If Brock wants to produce such parts, he has that free market right... I wish him the best of luck with his NSX platform...

More information on this manifold is needed and important for sale especially on $1000 manifold. I would enjoy view some charts and optional add-ons like a few members mentioned for aux fuel and more.

Think most of us figured after two years of design and testing you would have some numbers to share at this point. Even if they are just some rough numbers. I know I'm not willing to drop $1k on pictures alone.

You say it is designed for top end power. I would like to see the effects it has on midrange?

Pictures from all angles would be a good start.

We wanted a full release not just making it available for purchase.
