I'm just saying that jumping at a company for not instantly providing a new replacement for an electronic module they don't make anymore is a bit over the top. I'm sure they won't post the amount here but if they're giving a legit discount on an AP, AND offering a free harness to troubleshoot his problem, I'd say that's trying to remedy the situation.

Lastly, I do completely agree that cp-e should just bite the bullet on this one for service reasons. I'd imagine either way it will be worked out in private so standback owners don't bombard them with demands.
You are missing the point, they simply claim "lifetime warranty on all parts" with no disclaimer of electronics or anything.

Its fuckin super simple,

They shouldhave SET THE LIFETIME at _ years and written "___ year lifetime warranty"

Not doing that shit makes them have to run around in circles they created for themselves, defending there own mistakes to a paying customer.

Wrong way to do it completely, by not specifying you leave a grey area in wich the customer was "mislead".

See cobbs DETAILED warranty section that EXPLAINS your warranty completely so the customer isnt left in a grey area of "well it says lifetime?!"

http://www.cobbtuning.com/returns.asp

Customer is always right, even when they are wrong.

This should just be a "heres an AP, sorry for the trouble" situation.

@Overboost3; We tried PMing you but your inbox is full. Please send us the standback and we will take a look at it for you and replace it if it cannot be fixed.

On the advisement of people on msf we will be updating our lifetime warranty policy. Lifetime warranty will be for the life of the product line, if the product is discontinued we will do our best to honor the warranty, but will be limited to what is left on hand and in this case staff as our electrical department is no longer. We are still a small growing company and are still learning as we grow. We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

This is beginning to sound like a positive outcome.

I'm considering taking back a few of the less than complementary things
I was thinking about you when you discontinued the SB and I gave mine
away.

Its fuckin super simple,

Lol it IS super simple. A lifetime warranty by definition covers the products market life, i.e until discontinuation. The company may or may not extend it past that. That's the only true gray area, whether cp-e decides to or not. Should cp-e be more specific to make sure 100% understanding for all, probably. Are they under any sort of legal obligation to? No. Are they under any legal obligation to fix/replace/offer alternatives? No. Are they anyway? Yes. So what's the problem?

Isn't it sad that you have to tailor your policies for the few idiots that just want to get something for free? I'll bet he's on welfare and voted for Obama.

You guys did nothing wrong. It probably is the harness. BTW OP, how did the product "fail" anyway? You said it "failed" twice, and now have no confidence in it; what exactly happened and how did you determine that it was the SB?

The problem here is that the OP wants to manipulate how the Warranty works out. It is at CP-e's discretion to take further action, not yours to demand free shit.

If they say the harness is the problem, let them replace the harness. If the issue continues let them replace the unit. Why should they give you an AP for free? Because that's what it seems like you're seeking....

1. They told him outright "Look our engineer is gone, we don't want you to waste your time and money because it will get sent back.

2. They offered a free harness to see if that was the issue.

3. They offered a discount that obviously cannot be stated in a public thread, which means it a good one.

4. They offered to examine, troubleshoot and replace if need be at NO COST. (Well I guess aside from the $4 it would cost to ship there)

Find all of those things from another company, go ahead.

I'm not a cp-e nutswinger either, I have 0 experience with them whatsoever. I have the Nano SRI because it was for sale used, locally for $80. This is just good customer service for an issue they didn't really even have to address. If these complaints had been sent to a big name company I bet OP would have gotten an automated response telling him "discontinued, sorry".

and @blackrs99; I was thinking the same thing...

Do you think it is fair to only cover warranty issues under this new policy when at the time of purchase a different and broader definition was in place?

Yes. It's more than fair. They don't have to do anything, but they are anyway. What's so difficult to understand?

I broke my old flip phone I bought in 2000. The company won't fix it. Now do you believe that?!

Sounds like CP-e offered you a better deal than me. My significant discount was 10%. I once respected this company, but they have fucked our community already. Promised they would get better but still not showing any loyalty. I agree if they can't repair or replace it with a new stand back, they should give him an AP. They fucked up as a company and can't offer support despite guys dropping 1k on a product if they went PnP and flashes. The least they could do if the right thing

There was a recal on my original iPod nano. Mind you it hasn't been made in probably 7 years at this point. Apple had me send it back and sent me a brand new (latest generation). I couldn't beleive it!

Im still waiting for a good and real offer from CP-e. I sent them my ECU for uninstalling their FullControlFlash and it came back damaged to me, I had to buy a new ECU and I have seen nothing of my money back.
They offered to me a "big" disccount purchasing stuff from them but curiously it happened during the thanks giving days, then they just dont answered my e-mails
Now my standback seems to work but I cant read it or write it from any PC
Anybody selling one?

Yeah, that's a different issue entirely from this thread. Good luck sorting it out though.

When we received your ecu it worked fine, we uninstalled the flashes and it was working fine. Did you contact us when you discovered the ecu was not working? It may have gotten damaged during shipping at which point we could have opened a claim with UPS and gotten you the money from that. At this point there is not much we can do since it is months later, you mentioned Thanksgiving time, We will still honor any discount we offered you and if you need the standback warrantied we still have some available.

Aren't you running a Cobb AP now? If your ecu is flashed back to stock the Standback will not work properly since you are running the AP. You also did not purchase this from cp-e™ you bought it 2nd hand not from a cp-e™ vendor.

Chunie:

Yes I got the standback from a friend, I might still have the original invoice. I asked you what if the original purchaser is who asks for the warranty, got no answer.

"If your ecu is flashed back to stock the Standback will not work properly since you are running the AP" did you mean that?

I already told you by e-mail Im not running AP now my ECU is running stock; the problem is the SB is no longer readable

Hey @www.cp-e.com; if the OP doesn't want his discount, can I have? You're being so generous, I thought I'd ask.

Hey @www.cp-e.com;.
I really appreciate you helping me and all fellow msfers with a much improved customer service agenda.
It pleases me to see vendors grow and improve through ruff times. If only certain vendors could take notice of "improved" vendors like cpe, shit, sure might be much better after that.

So much retardation in this thread. What if a company goes defunct? Should your shit still be replaced. If this was a motor mount that would be different. Product no longer exists and they are trying to hook you up with an AP probably for a loss for them.

I'm sure if OP really wants, CPe can find a standback somewhere. Op should realize that he should go to the AP.

Many people bought standbacks and due to it's limitations they ended up dropping it and going to the AP losing out on their money.

IMO CPE should buy you a hypertech.
