Don't know what else to tell yeah, that is what I was informed Via text from Kevin. This is why I went ahead and ordered a JMF v2 PI manifold for the car

We're still working out some bugs and trying to get the best flow we can out of these before we release them for purchase. But please keep in mind these were not designed to run on stock cars. We designed these for BT cars

Thank you for your post though.

I was thinking the same thing because I use the CX Racing Piping and it drops down in front of one of the runners on the stock manifold. I wonder if with the new CP-E manifold if there will still be room? I guess someone will have to be the guinea pig..

I wouldn't mind being the guinea pig. I can always just sell it or the intercooler and go another route.

When swapping intake manifolds, the I/C piping should never be a consideration on the purchase of said manifold. If you are that far along where an intake manifold is needed, piping is the least of your concern.

I will have to disagree with you to an extent simply due to the state of our platform. The same could (should) be said about a big turbo, but how easy is it to order and ATP kit and slap one on? The whole mazdaspeed aftermarket community is built around things fitting stock location, so it kinda skews things. Now, i agree, someone going so far as to need a PI manifold should be able to redo something as simple as a cold pipe... but the JMF doesnt need it so this will have to be substantially better to warrant a change.

Agreed, but, when I was designing the manifold I thought long and hard about how I wanted the fitment. I knew that if I could make a manifold that fit into a somewhat stock location, Jim would be able to make a cost effective piece that would benefit the community. In other words, I felt the most people would buy a stock location mani over something that they had to modify in the engine bay to get to work, in turn making it more attractive for Jim to produce.

End feed plenums have very distinct advantages over the center feed counterparts, but at the cost of needing to relocate items in the engine bay.

Every community it seems to have two types of people. One type that wants to buy parts and be able to bolt them on and go with out the worry of custom work. I get those people, I really do. Whether they use the car as a dd and they only have a weekend to install the parts, or they just don't have the skills or tools to do the custom work needed. The other type is the ones that have the time to either pay to have fab work done or have the skills to do it on their own.

In the end, we (the community) will have some awesome choices on intake manifolds.

If you do this much custom work to your car where you pretty much REQUIRE a new intake mani, perhaps you should be ready for the simple modification of some intercooler piping?

I have no issue creating a new coldpipe to mate to the IM. But if it consumes area closer to the radiator, forcing new fans to be installed with a Koyo, and new hot piping to miss any other obstructions, it would be a lot of additional cost that would have to be considered.

Just talking out loud, as you said, 1 pipe is no big deal, but there is potential for other areas to have to be modified

Oh I agree, but I also think CP-E wouldn't be dumb enough to try to mass produce an intake mani for >$700 that would also require a new radiator and slim fans as well. At that point, people would just get a JMF. Or build a custom one like I'm considering doing.

I see an even deeper question I this, it may not be exactly what he meant but still something I thought. CPe does have a habit of making parts that can either only be used with their parts or even only purchased with other parts of theirs. Case in point: try purchasing just their vband downpipe from them workout buying the full v band turbo kit. So I can see an announcement in the future when this is finally released that this just so happens to fit in such a way that none of the currently available piping kits fit, both hot and cold sides and there will conveniently be a cpe kit that does.

well, i understand what you guys are saying about the manifold and piping. however, i'm interested in a new manifold (or maybe just a ported one) so i can simply get even flow over all 4 cylinders. i don't "need" a new manifold. but i "want" one to help cyl 3 last a little longer than it would otherwise.

it's good to know, because knowledge is power, and knowing is half the battle!

You cannot buy thier V-band DP separatly because it's part of the Atmosphere kit which uses the Tial Stainless V-band hotside. Your point is moot. Keep in mind CP-e provides misc. couplers to fit most aftermarket intercoolers when you buy the Atmosphere kit. I wouldn't be surprised if they did something similar for this intake mani.

You can buy every other part of the Atmosphere kit individually, including a v-band exhaust mani.

I promise you can't buy the V-band DP by itself lol... at least they won't sell it separately for the MS6.

They won't sell that downpipe for the ms3 either. They do this to try to steer you away from buying all the rest of the parts from other vendors for cheaper.

I know. I was trying to say that Darth has a valid point. CP-E has released parts that are either exclusive to their kits or that simply don't play well with parts from other manufacturers.

Not all port jobs are the same, but heres my results of a ported stocker. Food for thought.

6th port injection + ported manifold

I want the mani and the dp. But that can't happen. I don't know why anyone would try to justify that being cool.

Case in point: try purchasing just their vband downpipe from them workout buying the full v band turbo kit. So I can see an announcement in the future when this is finally released that this just so happens to fit in such a way that none of the currently available piping kits fit, both hot and cold sides and there will conveniently be a cpe kit that does.

if cpe thought far enough ahead to make parts that only fit their own parts, their exhaust manifold would work with their own downpipe's O2 sensor location lol!

Ford is a larger company than mazda and probably will sell more"ST" products than mazdaspeed ever sold. Go where the money is

Nope not true, we are still working on the IM. We're putting just as much effort into the mazdaspeed platform as we are the ST. Don't worry it's coming, but fine tuning now. We were pretty sure that our last revision was going to do it, but we ran into a few hiccups. We are working on and testing the newest revision now. We will update more when we have news.
