Default CPE Catted downpipe SPL

I am about to install the CPE catted DP
I have the MSCAI and HKS-BOV already installed.
Without catback exhaust....how different will the car sound after the install of the DP?

Not very different. It is slightly louder and angrier sounding but outside the car most people will not notice a difference.

The best advice I can give you is... install it and find out! Its a good upgrade dude, I promise.

Thanks dude...but there is no question that I am installing the DP. Just that there are some fussy old neighbours around my house, so I wanted to know from now if I had to start getting on their good sides...maybe start bringing them muffins or something from now.
But the DP has been paid for and is in flight somewhere, should be installed my Monday!

So I have heard conflicting opinions on this topic, maybe I will ask it again here and see:
Seems that the sound is the major advantage of a catback, are there any major HP increases that would justify getting a catback with the Catted DP?

how the fuck am i supposed to know...lol. my car is the loudest ms3 in north america I sell this shit all over the country but none of the local guys have that setup.

id say it wont be a hell of alot louder unless its wide open throttle. Then it will be. But still not bad. the catback is where the sound characteristics usually come from.

Ive got a vibrant ultra quiet resonator i'll probably throw on there eventually.

I have just installed the cpe catted downpipe with my stock cat back about 2 weeks ago now, thanks Randy!!!!

It is a bit louder and deeper, meaner sounding I would say. I like the sound. At certain RPM's I feel a bit more vibration in the car so definately deeper and louder.

I'm not sure if it is loud enough to upset neighbors but I do try and keep it quiet when I get home from work at 11:30pm because it seems like it could.

The cp-e down pipe moves the stock exhaust forward about an inch so make sure and check your heat shields towards the back of the car for rubbing. I had to bend the shields out of the way which only took about a minute.

Thanks Timz.
What other mods do you have?
Besides the sound... What difference does the DP make?

I just put on a cattless cpe DP and it's amazing. I have a stock cbe. at idle it is slightly deeper but not enough to really notice. At wot it is a totally different car it sounds mean as hell. pops, gurgles, and even backfires on occassion. Car pulls much harder up top and comes into boost much faster. I have been holding steady 17psi dropping to 15ish since I put it on.

I'm mostly fully bolted now:

CP-E CAI black, CP-E FMIC black, HKS SSQV CP-E black version, PG CDFP internals, CP-E Catted Down pipe, HKS step colder plugs, Street Unit rear MM and shifter bushings, CP-E Stand Back Ver 2 with PNP, rignt now a RPMC turbo inlet but waiting for the CP-E one to replace it with, I just got a set of Eibach springs to install monday......

I guess you could say I like the CP-E stuff. I started with a few Cobb items but decided to try a few other things and was more impressed by the quality and support I received for the CP-E items then the Cobb.... Just my personal experience and opinion.

I am going to dyno with the Arizona Mazda Club on the 28th so i'll have some #'s then. My tune is @ 18psi right now and i've noticed that the down pipe makes my boost spike a bit higher probably because it spools a bit quicker.
The downpipe definately gave more power, quicker build, I also get some pop, gurgle and small amount of backfire but my car feels good right now......

i have a cp-e catted with the stock cbe....it's definitely an increase in noise....but it will tone down after awhile and it won't be bad...its not a HUGE increase in noise that is for certain.....it is definitely daily-able with stock cbe

if you absolutely do not want a noise increase, you will have to look else where...a downpipe opens up the restriction big time

I am not worried too much about the noise increase...I just wanted to know what I was in for.

it's not bad at all...at first it might take you off guard...but after driving it around and letting it break in, it will be fine

it took me about 2 weeks to fully break in and get use to the sound
