(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score cp-e There's a picture of the cast tubular exhaust mani. Not quite what I was envisioning and don't see how it will flow so much better than any other mani on the market. Cast is nice though since you don't have to worry about welds cracking. Anyways, that is some good news and can't wait to see the turbo kits and standalone ECU's |

| Not Ranked : 0 score so dumbass question but i've always wondered.. what are manis for really.. i'm extremely uneducated and would love a link if possible with education info.. i see the talk about them everywhere, but not really the HERP DERP IT DOES THIS SO GET IT.. -must be BT for it to actually benefit? -must have a tune to unleash full potential (probably double-y retarded considering everything is better with a tune) --i assume when they say 2.3l speed3 motoer, gen1/2 compatibility is a go-go baby ya? my lack of education is depressing, but i love you long time.

| Not Ranked : 0 score that's the best part about cast pieces: no welds to crack. so even if they didn't add a support bracket, the pipe would probably have to snap for there could be cracks. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score From personal experience with my SRT-4, cast pieces are nice BUT you have to constantly check the studs and nuts that hold it to the head. With all the weight of a cast mani, turbo, wastegate/dumptube and the exhaust, the studs break REALLY easily. A support bracket might not be needed to save a weld from cracking, but it would be great to save the studs from shearing off.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I agree that is a lot of weigh to be hanging from those little studs in a aluminum head, but I really think that applies to all the manifolds out there . I also don't think it will really flow better that a full tube equal length manifold with a merge collector imo anyhow. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score correct me if i'm wrong. is'nt there a support bracket that mounts from the block to the turbo? either way i agree there needs to be a support bracket for the weight hanging from the studs. |

exhaust manifold is something your car already comes with, after the combustion gases exit through the exhaust valve, runner..they dump into a manifold....from there it goes into the turbine inlet of the turbo to actually make the turbo spin its shaft and in term suck in more air on the compressor side of it.... an "exhaust mani" is just the same piece you have except each runner from the exhaust port to the collector is more uniform in length, dimension (rounder like a tube inside) and usually larger in tube volume ....making it easier for the exhaust to flow out of the cylinder head..... any engine can always benefit from an after market "header" as they are usually called since the oem cast manifold usually isn't the best flowing piece. (most of the time for heat and noise issues they are made beefy and meh flowing)

| Not Ranked : 0 score other than to facilitate mass production i dont see the point of a cast header... theaders been around for a loooooooooooooong time.... best ones have and always will be made from welded piping....if the dimensions inside are equal the non cast will always be lighter anyways.... not sure what is trying to be accomplished here

So are there noticeable gains on let's say a dyno. Or is it just for better flow, therefore just "better" for the car.. like a hpfp.. albeit no (paper) power gains, it's safe and good to have...

As for seeing a measurable gain switching to an aftermarket fuel pump, most people say that there IS a measurable performance improvement...

| Not Ranked : 0 score Inexpensive, mass produced, cast manifold, based on a tubular welded design. They basically took a welded tubular mani, and made a mold so that they can be mass produced by casting. Advantages: Less expensive part, less prone to cracking, flow as well as welded mani of the same design. Disadvantages: Heavier. Im sure you know all that already lenny, I am just posting it up for those who may not.
