(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I received mine and was very impressed with the bulletproof construction. I attempted install Sat. and ran into an issue. The shaft did not want to go thru the sheetmetal towards the towhook connection. I stuck the towhook in car and threaded it, no problem. Attempted the mounting shaft once more and it did not want to go in, so I forced it thru the sheetmetal and pulled it out again. I put it back in and attempted to thread, no joy, it just would not start. I took a step back for a moment and looked at the shaft. The PC was scraped away from the rotation of trying to thread it. I realized then that the threads on the shaft were also PC'd. I took a small triangular file and commenced removing powdercoating. I did not have a die of that size to clean the threads. I did about half the shaft to see if I could get it started. Bingo, started threading like a champ. Problem came up when I started getting some resistance. I immediately reversed rotation and towhook loosened up. Also, not enough shaft to put some visegrips on. Soooo, I went back to screwing the shaft in as best I could. It is in, but there is about a 3/4" gap between bumper and plate. I will be able to get it out when I pull the bumper off. After reviewing Haltech's install photo's, I spotted the shaft delivered to him and there it was, no PC on the shaft threads. This is just a heads up to CP-e folk's and anyone that intends on getting one of these TowPlate's. There is a run out there that has powdercoated threads. Oh, I would highly recommend buying one of these. Very well constructed. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Hmm. this sounds exactly like what happened to me. After looking a bit closer I noticed that some of the threading was a bit off as well. Randy and the guys @ CPe were amazing hand got everything taken care ASAP though. EXCELLENT customer service.
