Default Help With removing CPE DP

So I'm trying to remove the CPE downpipe from my car so it can get a new cat put on it. The trouble I'm having is what i thought would be the easiest part. I can't get the DP to disconnect from the catback. everything is apart except i cant seperate the two. I tried to take the cat back off too but where it connects to the rear piece behind the muffler is stuck on too. Any tricks or ideas to getting these two pieces seperated?? THanks.

A nice size rubber mallet is your friend. The stainless steel shrinks and makes a tight seal on the pipes. So, basically, beat the shit out of it at the connections and it will break loose for you.

Alright well I guess I'll go buy a rubber mallet then. I tried as hard as I could to pull the two apart but couldn't get it. Thanks for the help.

yup, beating the shit out of them always works. I have had this issue before, and a couple hits radially works to loosen it up, and then a couple hits axially will separate the two.

if you don't happen to have a rubber mallet, a piece of wood works just about as well...
